American River College fall 2018 hopefuls

Published

I didn't see a thread for this semester, so I started one. I'm applying now. Taking the TEAS in a couple of weeks and submitting everything right after. It's my first time applying. I am really nervous! I am honestly not gonna get my hopes up because I know people going on their 5th time applying, so that's a little demoralizing. I am considering Sac City and USF Sac campus as well, but I would rather not graduate with a ton of debt from a private school.

How is everybody doing?

I did well on the science and math..what killed me was the English and reading...i did really well on my A&P courses and really retain a lot of the info...how did you do in your classes? My only recommendation is to watch crash course on YouTube or read the summary of each chapter in textbook on science

I got a B on the first A&P, and As on the rest, so I'm definitely weaker on the a&p basics.

That's a good idea. I love the crash course videos because they are fast paced.

Did everyone take their pre reqs at California colleges? Did you already send them transcripts to evaluate? Some of mine were out of state so I sent them but don't know if I need to talk to a counselor and they have not returned my emails lol.

Are applications reviewed during the Acceptance period or after?? I'm a first time applier and will be submitting my app soon

In other words, will my status change within this month or after

I took the TEAS today and got 84%. I'm happy considering I ended up not studying at all and you get 20 points if you score between 80 and 89. So I finally have everything ready and can apply! I just submitted my application online and will work on the actual paperwork this week.

I know there still about 2 more weeks to apply but let us know how many people already signed up...from the stats Fall is always more applications

What do you usually submit your nursing application in? A folder or a large envelope?

I believe it has instructions on how they want you to submit it such as what size envelope. It is on the cover page you print out. Has anyone looked into the BSN merger they offer through Sac state? I think it is only offered in the Fall.

Yes! They offer the BSN merger at Sierra and SCC as well! I'll definitely be trying to get into that wherever I get in. Applications for that are submitted during the second semester of nursing school and the merger starts 3rd semester.

The BSN merger looks really cool. I hope we get in fall semester so we can utilize that. I have so many college credits already I rather get a BSN than another AS.

I'm in the merger at Sierra. They basically take 15 from each school (Sierra, ARC, and SCC) and make one giant cohort. It starts in between the second and third semester. In that summer, you take 6 units at Sac State to gain residency, and then you don't do anything during third semester except the regular ADN program. Then come 4th semester, it's the ADN program on top of 3 units with Sac State. Then you go onto summer and graduate fall with your BSN. The only time you are at Sac State is for those 6 unit residency courses in the summer, and the rest are actually at the local community colleges through Sac State.

What kind of classes do you need to take for the merger? Are they general ed classes that you can transfer so hypothetically if you already had them all done you only would be required to do the 6 residency courses?

How do they decide who gets to do the merger if more than 15 students want to?
