American River College Fall 2013 Applicant Pool

U.S.A. California

Published

I haven't been to any of the Multicriteria meetings on the new application process for American River College but I have a question:

If ARC is selecting students from the top 30% of applicants and automatically giving top 30% spots to those who have applied 5 or more times, does this mean that the top 30% will be made primarily of those who have applied 5 or more times?

Does it mean that you need an even higher score to be put in the top 30%/one is less likely to get a spot in the top 30% based on the multicriteria score? Or is it the top 30% of the multicriteria scores AND 5+ time applicants are included in the selection pool?

I hope some of this makes at least a little sense :)

SCC won't change to qualified... it stays as "received" forever if you are not selected...

That is true. SCC makes you sit around and wonder if you did everything right :(

DID YOU SEE!?! SCC took off the sociology prerequisite! I just checked their ppt.

Backstory on that is in October when I went to a nursing info meeting, they told me I needed sociology; I scrambled to get it done before the tentative March 15th deadline (which, as we know, was extended through April 5th)... I almost shelled out $1,200 at University of Phoenix to get a 5 week class done! Luckily, I ended up getting a petition to have my Problems in a Changing Society (Delta's SOC 1B) to count toward the requirement...

And now it's not even a requirement! Can you believe it!?

Huh...what weird is that they still have sociology listed as a prereq on the enrollment criteria sheet under criterion 4. But you are right they don't list it on the ppt...weird!!!

I am so happy that you will know when the acceptance letters go out. And i am happier nothing has gone out considering i haven't heard anything lol. Maybe because of the new process they are changing the way they do things...?

ARC lost about 300 apps with the new process, so you think we could get this show on the road, they should select right after the due date and should check apps for completeness as they get them, so we wouldnt seem like crazies if we didnt have to wait so long. LOL
