American River College Fall 2013 Applicant Pool

U.S.A. California

Published

I haven't been to any of the Multicriteria meetings on the new application process for American River College but I have a question:

If ARC is selecting students from the top 30% of applicants and automatically giving top 30% spots to those who have applied 5 or more times, does this mean that the top 30% will be made primarily of those who have applied 5 or more times?

Does it mean that you need an even higher score to be put in the top 30%/one is less likely to get a spot in the top 30% based on the multicriteria score? Or is it the top 30% of the multicriteria scores AND 5+ time applicants are included in the selection pool?

I hope some of this makes at least a little sense :)

Well... Sad to say after applying for times, this 5th time I am disqualified because I took the teas 6 days later and passed over a year ago. It's all out the Window guys. I guess I have to go with my other plans of re taking the teas next month. I wish you guys the best of luck this time! I hope we all make it in even though it won't be the same school. Good luck all!

I am so sorry Lyricalluna. That sucks. :(

Oh man, I am so sorry, does that mean you have to retake the TEAS if it gets to old? This time you will know what to expect on the TEAS take a breath and things will work out for you, things are wierd like that. Best wishes

Thanks guys! It's not that my score was old, it's that I didn't take it in that 90 day time span. I didnt wait to take it. I took it six days later. I would have waited now if I knew I was gonna have this much trouble applying to schools. Back then not many schools required the teas before applying. I was rushing trying to get it done when sac city first required it so I could apply that go around but, funny I still didn't get to apply that semester cuz I didnt have enough points. Things have a weird way of working out. I've been going thru a remediation for another school so I hope I pass it again..

My application was qualified at ARC, I am still waiting anxiously checking my email box.....

Good luck to you! The lucky ones should hear something this week...

I WANT TO KNOW!!! Oh my gosh I am so restless! Compulsive email/AN checking isn't fun!

:(

I think it will be over soon!

I think it will be over soon!

I hope so!! Because I am so utterly worthless at work right now, it's not even funny!!

haha now that I know I'm moving, I'm even more worthless at work! Short Timer!

Funny story; my boss kept voicing concern about an "abrupt departure" when I go off to nursing school. So... I took today off (it just so happens to be the beginning of the new pay period), and before I left yesterday, I took everything down in my cubicle and hid it all in my locking cabinets... It looks vacant :)

Oh my your boss if prob like, what the hell is going on??? Does your boss know about you wanting to be a nurse?

Mine doesn't!! I am so nervous to tell my boss when the time comes. I have this terrible sense of loyalty and I feel like I am being so deceptive because I took this job knowing it would be short lived and of course they think I will be here forever...that's the other nerve wracking part of this hole process!!

Haha I told my boss as soon as I found out... I told him last year when I started taking prereqs (I also told him to rethink the way he treated me because, in the long run, I am not going to need a recommendation or reference from him for anything)

As for you, don't feel bad... A job is a job is a job; they'll understand :)
