Why not tape record the whole thing, then type it later.

I agree, the clickity-clack of the keyboard would be disruptive, and is inconsiderate of others.

We have a woman in our class that used to be a college professor or something and she constantly talks throughout classes. She sits behind me so I end up hearing everything. She talks about how our instructor couldn't teach a dog to bark if she had a Master's degree in Dog Obedience. This is just a toned down version of what she usually says. She even complains about the tests. Our first exam, she made a 77/failing. When she was walking back to her seat she said "Maybe she needs to go back and become a staff nurse" which she was making reference to our instructor. The instructor stopped talking and shot back "Maybe you need to go back to your first job, seems it was easier." I couldn't contain myself after hearing that one, I spit Dr.Pepper all over my notes and the student if front of me I was laughing so hard. We laughed for a total of 10 minutes while our instructor and the "student professor" were standing outside talking. She hasn't said a word since!!

How about when instructors get off topic and end up talking about thier personal lives.... makes me just livid!!! I am not there to hear about their life..I am there to actually learn something.. and not waste my time!!

Unfortunately Jess, sometimes doing what your instructor did is exactly what needs to be done. Had a couple in my classes years ago that did the same thing. Alot of class time wasted on nonsense.:angryfire :angryfire
I don't really have a problem with sleepers in class (as long as they are not snoring or drooling on my notes:rolleyes: ), but it was the talkers and noisemakers that got on my nerves, I found they interferred with other students learning (far more than any sleeper).:angryfire

What about the nodders? Those who nod and agree with everything the instructor says. That's annoying to me, especially if they sit next to you. :chuckle

I had one of those lengthy questioners in my class too. Very annoying. He was a nice quiet shy guy but asked alot of unnecessary questions. Some of us finally took him aside outside class and nicely talked to him. He had no idea he was being irritating and he stopped.

The nodders are interesting too . ... I'd forgotten about them.

I work with one of those. It annoyed me so much that i make sure i'm sitting in front of her during an inservice.

if you have to sleep in class one shouldnt snore bcoz you might wake the person next to you!

We had a guy fall asleep in class today, too! He was sitting the back of the room, in the corner.
At first, we heard a mild snoring, which caused some giggles. Pretty soon, though, his snoring got louder and louder, until he woke up from the rest of the class laughing at him! Even the teacher had to stop lecturing! :imbar

I can see why some would find that annoying, sometimes movement nearby is very distracting. I tend to find noise more of a distraction. I'm one of those people that can't talk on the phone unless the TV sound is mute.

Maybe they're nodding to stay awake. I once had a high school teacher that spoke in a very monotonous voice, now that is irritating.

This didn't happen in a nursing-related class, but it did in an electrical engineering one. It's a habit for students in the major at my school to nod off every once in awhile because you lose sleep taking 22+ of high level math and engineering classes in a semester, among other things (I went to a service academy)... so the teachers made us stand up whenever we got sleepy.

Needless to say, I actually had a friend in the major who fell asleep while standing several times... and actually managed to still stand straight up while properly holding a pen in his hand. xP

I agree, now try to have an entire class like that. After having clinical at the butt crack of dawn the next day we have to wake up and go to a class that for 1 whole hour we either just sit and stare at eachother of make small talk, we have told our insturctor what a waste of time it is, I am tired enough after my morning rounds the day before, at least let me sleep not make me have small talk half awake

I agree I have had many teachers put me to sleep with their voices that dont switch tones. An english teacher I had once I told him I would rather watch paint dry on a wall than sit in your class

How about listening to a loud abnoxious cougher/hacker clearing throat ALL during lecture, only to find that same person smoking a cigarette immediately after class?
