Maybe you and your coworkers could accept her not paying the overtime for a few months and then sue the hospital. They probably wouldn't be too happy with her.
  2. What I find amazing is that in the midst of the 'shortage', all you have to do is call agency, and viola, as many nurses as you could ever want. I agree with those that think it is a pay issue.

Lots of different opinions here, wow. For me, I am taking my breaks if I have to call the house supervisor to come down and watch my patients. If I get fired, or license taken, fine, it wasn't meant to be. I am not a slave.

The problem I have with that is that breaks are the law. I don't care what anyone thinks. I have enough to think about without worrying about what someone else thinks about me, and one of those problems is that I am hungry. I AM taking my break, see you in about 1/2 an hour. PS..note to self...never get a job in the ER.

Hi, I am curious about something... I read alot of threads on here that talk about not having time to take a bathroom break, not being able to take a lunch break, much less 15 minutes breaks every, what, 4 hours or so. Why does this happen? There are laws that protect you. I fully intend on saying, "um, no, I am going on my lunch break, if you don't like it, talk to the labor department, or whoever passed the laws that certainly do exist. What do you think? Tell me why you allow yourself to be abused like that. I promise you it won't happen to me.
  7. Wow, that is shocking. Having less education does not mean a lower class in all situations. I am not exactly sure what 'probly havent passed their Endocrine, Cardiac, CNS or fluid and electrolyte chapters yet' has to do with it, but I do agree that low class people are found everywhere. I know many RN's that just make me wonder how they got there at all.
  8. Jeeeez now I have really stuck my foot in my mouth!!!! I am really sorry Tazzi. I really don't think being old is an issue, I was just trying to make things right. I really don't have any idea what your were referring to. I guess I'm just too young. Lol, c'mon, I'm just kidding.
  9. I kinda agree. First thing they need is o2, some morphine, maybe interventional radiology, certainly angiogram, yadda yadda yadda. However, I do not think that the 'last thing they need' is education. If they had gotten it beforehand, they might not be here now, and if they get it now, they might not be here again. Teaching is an important aspect of being a nurse (and by that, I mean teaching the patient).
  10. incometent doctors abound. just try to CYA. Document well.
  11. I still think it is hot. Please don't forget the 80's. Many of us grew up then. In my opinion, people have pretty much forgotten, or just don't care to know, how to use make-up. Less is not more. More is more. hi.
  12. I just wanted to add a little more 'imput' to my previous post... doctors can KMA, lol...
  13. Look, I am sure many of you recognize me as a curmudgeon-at-large around here. But for once, I have a real question.... How do you keep your freaking badge facing the right way? No matter what, it never fails, the back of my badge is facing forward. Why is this the natural position?
  14. Perhaps the moderators should lock this thread and advise you to consult with your local BON...lol
  15. I think it goes without saying that it is a good idea to go business professional for job interviews. For work, scrubs, lol. Otherwise...please, leave me alone.
