I am so afraid to fail this. I am 38, havent even started pre-reqs yet. But this is all I have ever wanted to do. When I read some of these posts, on trying to get in, trying to keep grades up, has me so worried. What if I cant do this? What then? This is my only passion...but sheesh I havent been in school in over 20 yrs! I cant do the simple things like MATH! Please send me some encouragement...I cant turn back now!!

Hi

You will never know if you don't try!!

If you don't try it, you will always be wondering if it's something you could have done.

Remeber everyone is an individual and school is different for everyone.

You may end up doing really great in this because it is something you really want.

Good Luck to you!!

Let us know how you do!

I am so thankfull for this site. I dont think I would actually be going through this if I didnt have this kind of support. I do have it with my family, but you guys are actually going through it. You know it can be done. I so need to hear that! I have an appt with the nursing counciler on monday to get started. No turning back for me....period!!

Good for you Cindee! Go for it! This website really is a breath of fresh air. You don't feel so isolated knowing that others are going through the same thing. At least here people understand and can relate, where as friends/family can give support, they really don't understand everything involved. Best of luck to you!!

Cindee, Many of us older students know how you feel. I am 43 in October and currently finishing my degree in Interdisciplinary Studies (business and Gerontology) and then either want to pursue degree in nursing or radiation therapy. I do well in all my classes except for math in which I get C's. When I was young I was keen for all A's but know that math is not my forte and I am actually happy to even get a C as means don't have to take darned class again.I left my well paying secretarial job over 18 months ago to finish school and pursue career in nursing and I am scared that I will fail but I have lived most of my life wondering what others though of me and now I have to live for me. Just do it and even if it's not for you or you don't succeed at least you will have tried and that's most important. Just do your best in math (sure you will do fine) and if you get C well so be it - it's a passing grade.. Good luck in your endeavours...

Hi Cindee - I'm 45, married with 5 kids....scheduled to graduate in May 2004. Yep...it can be done. (If you have a husband and family and they are supportive, it helps).

You can do it! Just work hard! I am struggling in math, but, I am working very hard because if I dont pass, I dont get in and my dream wont come true.

I highly recommend getting a tutor (even a friend/family member) to help you with the classes you are having trouble with. It makes a huge difference!

I'm married and have 2 kids. Its going to be tough, but it will be so worth it.

I wish you all the very best :)
