Am I alone? Please tell me I am not!

I finished up my pre-reqs and I have applied to my school of choice, however Santa Ana college has a mandatory wait list. I am told that it is a 1-1.5 year wait (I am on their priority list)

Anyone else applying to schools with a mandatory waitlist (meaning no lotteries, no immediate start for excellent grades) Anyone on Santa Ana's Wait list?

I feel like I am getting left behind with so many people on here getting acceptance letters.

My general ed is complete.. was thinking about doing my CNA or maybe taking the classes for a lab tech. (and enjoying my kids while waiting)

thanks.. I just need to make sure that there are others in my situation...

I've heard you refer to yourself as being on the "priority" list. I'm just curious what that is exactly, 'cause I've never heard of such a thing.

Good Luck!

My University has a 2 year waiting list which we were told up front, I placed my name on all of the sites nursing program waiting lists and I have been working on my pre-reqs the past 4 semesters and begin the actual nursing program in the Fall. All of my pre-reqs are finished effective tomorrow. :)

Good Luck to you and Everyone!!

At Santa Ana college (I hope I am explaining this correctly) they have a mandatory wait list.. and you are assigned points (based off your science/english pre-reqs) they go through the list and the 40's go.. then the 35's... not sure if they go below 35 points.. (it is up to the nursing director I believe) that is for one half of the class. The other half are picked from first come first serve. I am told that with my points it is a 1-1.5 year wait (from August). I asked what the wait list time is for people that do not have a "high" point score. I was told 3-4 years.

I am hoping that everyone applies and is accepted to Goldenwest (since they accept more students) I live too far from goldenwest (with the traffic)

I believe they have this explained on their website.

This is my third time applying to one of the local community colleges. They admit via lottery and if you don't get in, you need to reapply the following semester, which includes a trip to the counselor to have him/her sign off on your prereqs...again.

I've been taking medical terminology and pharmacology while waiting. I was thinking of getting certified in phlebotomy instead of just waiting around.

I'm praying that I'll her something positive for the fall 07 semester soon!

my school has a two year first come, first served waiting list once you finish A&P I & II & micro. so you're not alone... :)

Hi everyone, I just got into Santa Ana College Nursing program, The extended campas program at St Joseph and Im so Excited!!!! Aug with be 2 years since I applied and went on the list. So far I love the instructors and they seem like they really care. A couple of friends started there last semester and LOVE IT!!!! I took all my pre req's at Golden West College and perfered going to Santa Ana. I know that it takes forever to get in but you will, They have increased their number of nursing students per semester. They got a grant!!!! Hang in there!!!!!

At my CC you have to have all the prereqs complete before you can get on the waitlist. The waitlist is 3-4 years long. It's like that at most places here in CO. :angryfire

To get into the larger universities there are more prereqs and it's a lot more money. Those usualyl have about 30 spots and are extremely competitive.

You're not alone ;)

First of all a big big CONGRATULATIONS!!!! the nightmare is over for you. I can imagine how are you feeling.

Santa Ana received a grant two years ago and has increased their enrollment for 24 to 36 at the extended program through St Joseph. I think that they now take 80 students in the fall and 44 in the spring. they only admit extended program in the fall. But Its better then nothing. Where have you been going? I heard GWC is also taking more students in their program too.... Im taking RN 103 and rn 112 at Santa Ana, they recommend that you take these classes before you get in. Its Pharm and Nursing Issues. Pharm is more difficult and Ive taken it before at GWC. They want you to take their class. Good Luck!!!!

I have about a year and a half wait also. Although the reason for it is'nt the school, it's my daughter. I thought she would be ready for kindergarten next year, but it turns out that she's not. I made the tough desicion to put school off for another year, while I get her acclimated to pre- K. It was hard to do this, as my school admits on gpa, and I have worked very hard for my 3.95 these last three years. I feel confident I would have gotten in since the lowest they accepted this year was 3.87. meanwhile, since my pre-rec and co-recs are done, I'm taking a cna course this summer to get my feet wet.

Anyone who has 30 points or above is prioritized. I have a friend who had 31 points, and got in the very next semester after she got on the list. Also, she was number "536" on the Wait List. Another friend had 25 points, and she was placed on the List at the end of Spring of 2007, and will be starting Fall of 2008.

hey there... I saw that someone bumped this thread back up... I am now in my 1st semester... and I love it! I ended up rec. a letter to take foundations and Pharm last semester.. I rec'd my acceptance letter last November... Glad I had a nice summer.. I read, spent time with the kids... and yes... the time flew by.. :)
