Alvin Community College (Texas)

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

I was looking on the Alvin CC page and it says the GPA is based on the completed courses and not those in progress. With that being said, has ACC admitted anyone with A&P in progress? I know they say in theory you can have a 4.0 in the other courses (ENGL & PSYC) but should a prospective student bother applying with the aforementioned A&P in progress? In that scenario ACC only says that all prerequisites be complete prior to the start of class. Their #1 criteria seems to be HESI scores followed by completed prerequisite GPA.

Anyone have an idea of how the class schedule is the first semester of the LVN program?

I have applied to Alvin and from what I have gathered no one gets in unless they have completed the pre reqs prior to application deadline. It is due to it being very competitive.

Hi, I went to an information session and if you haven’t attended one I would recommend you attend one in order to get more information (plus it is a requirement in order to apply). Regarding your question from what I understand as long as the courses are completed by the deadline. For example, for the current deadline for Fall 2019 is April 5. The grade must be on the transcript by that deadline.

During the info session the director gave an example that “even if your professor write a letter or call her directly stating you will get an A”. It will not get accepted.

I looked at a number of schools especially BSN programs and have noticed many of the them consider applicants whose coursework is still in progress. Hope for the best in your journey to becoming a nurse.
