College of the Mainland ADN FALL 2019 program
I chose Alvin. My advice for HESI is study various sources for A&P, use Elsevier study guide for Math and grammar if needed.

Thanks. I have been accepted at Mainland for the LVN to RN transition program. Now I am waiting to see if I am accepted at Alvin College. If so, I will make a decision which one is best for me. It’s a tossup right now since both are about the same distance away from where I live and both have respected programs. Sorry to to hear you missed the Hep B shots. It’s a pain in the rear sometimes to keep up with all the different requirements of each school. For or what it’s worth my HESI was overall: 91.2 and GPA 3.5

It could be as low as 10 seats. Last year she said it was 15 seats avaialable. We won’t know until later since it is based on how many people fail the program in spring 2019 in the regular ADN program. They have only so many slots for clinicals available. She said last year less than 100 applied. This year it could be more. We’ll see if we’re accepted around April 15. Not many seats available regardless. Other schools have more seats available it seems.

I have applied to the summer 2019 LVN to RN transition program at Alvin. We have less seats available and less applicants but still competitive to get in. It could be only 10 seats or max is 20. Alvin does seem very organized compared to some other schools. I prefer Alvin since it is closer and I have taken several classes there. Karen told us the average GPA and HESI scores from those who got in last year for the LVN to RN program and I am just above those averages, so hopefully it works out.

Yes, I heard the same thing in the meeting. This should make it more balanced for those without 4.0 GPA averages. Last year she said only 4.0 GPA persons primarily got accepted because this was their only criteria. On the other hand if you have that perfect 4.0 avg. and do poorly on HESI you still have a good chance as well.

I have applied to Alvin and from what I have gathered no one gets in unless they have completed the pre reqs prior to application deadline. It is due to it being very competitive.

I have applied for the LVN-RN transition at Mainland 2019. I’ll probably start a thread on that.
