Starting a thread for people applying for Spring 2015 at Alvin Community College. Also wondering if anyone knows what counts as proof for Hepatitis B immunity?

Hello All, have any of you taking Pharmacology at Alvin CC and if so how was it? I am looking to take it ASAP so any recommendations on on professors, study tips, etc.

hey FutureRN, are you signing up for Pharmacology for this semester at Alvin? I am looking to take it too if possible. I hear it makes the 1st semester of the program easier if you have that class out of the way

Yes, only 2 weeks to go! the suspense is killing me! But I am being patient as possible and prayerful about this process. I saw in the previous fall 14' thread there 60 applicants selected. So hopefully they are picking that many again! Has anyone else received an email yet saying their application was completed?

I inquired because I am currently enrolled at another Houston school and some schools allow you to take it as a pre-requisite and some do not so I called the nursing department and they said as of Jan 2015 it will not be required (due to the states request that all Associate programs be 60 credit hours). So she said their particular pharmacology will be incorporated as a part of the program vs being a semester 1 pre req. So I may be taking the course that does count for them but I need elsewhere. I hope this makes sense?

Also, to answer your other question...No, I have not received an email that all my info has been received. Although I have everything checked off on their "checkmystatus" option on their website, I am still awaiting some good news!

Ok FutureRN thanks for that, I think I got what you were saying lol. I guess ill just take it come January ( being optimistic :))! And maybe just try to get some practice books/guides to start on over winter break before actually start the class in the spring.

Yea I havent received an email yet either and have everything completed on my checklist as well.

I noticed that they have some pharm classes starting the second session but like I said I would contact the nursing department before registering because of the changes being made. Hopefully we hear something by this week. I am more worried about an acceptance email than an email stating everything was received, but it helps to get any type of notice at this point lol

Same here! Im thinking it may be more toward the 2nd week in October but sooner the better!

Is Alvin your top pick? I know you applied to a few other schools as well. I wish that I would've done that so I could at least have options, but Alvin was the only school I applied to and the one I would like to attend most.

Yeah actually Alvin is my top pick. I have heard alot of good thing about the program. Also, my family and I are looking to relocate so I'm hoping I can here a decision from either schools so our plans can begin.

Yea I've heard a lot of great things about the school too! Its my top pick and God willing if I am selected, I will be relocating closer to school. Good Luck with everything and I hope we hear something soon as well!

I got my completed application confirmation this morning. Just wanted to let anyone else who hasn't recovered there's know, so they aren't freaking out! :)

I'm kinda freaking out! It's October and I havent received anything yet. I may have to call the school and make sure they have my correct email. I'm hoping we find out soon :)
