Alvin Community College ADN-Fall 2017

Published

Is anyone applying to ACC ADN program for Fall 2017?

I've been checking in on the forum and finally decided to join in. I too am playing the waiting game. I have all my prereqs for a BSN and ADN only class missing is Anatomy 2 which I'm taking this summer. I've chosen this route because went to UT Info session they received 1200 applications for about 100 spots and similar situation with UTMB. At this point I'm just looking for a way to get this path started.

Specializes in ICU.

Hey you guys! I'm soooooo eager and ready to find out! Good luck y'all. Playing the waiting game is tough. So, May 15th? Lol

Wow, 1200 students? That is crazy.

40 students are accepted into the Alvin program.. Thats what sucks.

I wish there were a few more open spots but I guess thats what makes their program so good is that they focus on a smaller group.

So I called today you guys for updates  hahaha the person who answered the phone just said 6 weeks after applications close and then was quiet lol. That's all I got you guys lol and classes would start August 22nd if we get in.

Ugh me too! I have everything for UT and UTMB also. I was put on the waitlist for UT for summer then denied 2 months after just waiting around... they have over a thousand applicants !! So what now:( so I am just going anywhere I can to reach my goal ! We are in the same boat

Some of y'all with such high GPAs and test scores - have you applied to other ADN programs? I know Alvin has the best NCLEX scores, but if you're doing this well in prerequisites and on tests, you should be ok on the NCLEX because you are smart!!! That's the boat I'm in and I applied to ACC and Wharton for ADN. Most other ADNs aren't QUITE this competitive and are great options.

I am accepted to Wharton and will probably stick with that even if I get into Alvin just bc clinicals are A LOT closer to me (WCJC does clinical in Katy/Sugar Land) since I live in Sugar Land. I do love the vibe I've gotten from Alvin - Dr. Fontenot seems amazing. But even she mentioned that so many people were commuting REALLY far to go there when there were other programs closer to their homes (think San Jac, Lodestar, Wharton, etc etc.)

Anyway, wishing everyone the best of luck. We are SO CLOSE to finding out and I just want to encourage y'all to look at other ADN programs if you haven't yet! If you're doing well in prerequisites and on tests you will be FINE in any ADN program :)

I applied at San Jac but they take into account a overall GPA so that dropped my ranking. I have a previous degree that I completed 8 years ago I'm a different type of student now but San Jac looks at total GPA. If I don't get in I'll apply to College of the Mainland. I went to info session at Lee College but they only start in Fall and I was past the deadline and only other college near my area is Galveston and they too only start in Fall (deadline has passed also).

It's a little disheartening because time is $ as is it's taken me quite some time just to finish prereqs and now waiting to get in at different places, with all slightly different requirements. Good luck to everyone in this journey.

Grades are being submitted soon at ACC! Good luck everyone! I've not heard anything on my end yet.

If we don't hear anything this Monday.... I'm going to pass out from the wait :sorry::blackeye::roflmao: hahah going crazy over here guys. 2 more days ?:woot:

Lol! For Spring they gave a date of Monday Nov 14th and sure enough by lunch the acceptance/denial emails were out. So fingers crossed! I got an acceptance email late yesterday from HCC, but hoping and praying for ACC.

Wasn't sure about last application emails and the time. Now I know to hope for any type of email around lunch time. I'll probably be refreshing my inbox all day tho :/ haha Also congrats with HCC!!! Woooo
