HI !!
I am new to the nursing program, I was just admitted in January. I have been interested in alternative and complimentary medicines & therapies. I was wondering if anyone knew of any opportunities in the nursing field for any such educational experiences or jobs available for nurses or nursing students??
Thanks

Hello! I just got my BS/MS in holistic nutrition (science degrees). I am hoping to within the year open a nutritional consultation service. No prescribing just education of diet types, nutritional components and such. Teach on things like bioflavonoids, antioxidants and vitamins. I have an ADN as well. I love this topic and it does not come up much.

:roll what a wide open, expanding field! I primarily in a western practice (critical care) which is how I eat & pay my bills, but my second job is a Certified Healing Touch Practitioner (energy worker). I do this in an Alternative Health Center in my neighborhood. Business is slowly building as people learn what it is. I am also involved in teaching people how to care for themselves (what nurses do best). I integrate this into my full time practice by educating clients that they have the right to all kinds of choices, western (allopathic), eastern, native, or a combination. It is their choice to educate themselves & do what is best for them. No set regimen. Holism as it's best! :kiss
Renerian, You might look into the lecture circate as a option. We have one here in AL called Diversified Nursing that coodinates
different lecturers with a host of different topics, such as your interest. I took a class from this company that spoke on herbal contraindications & uses. It was a WEALTH of info that I never got in school. Share your knowlege with the RN's who will teach their clients the same! :chuckle
Thanks healing touch!

The class you took in Alabama do you know if they offer it in different states.
I would like the education component. Your right this herbal stuff is passed by in nursing school.
renerian,
what part of ohio are you from I am orginally from Athens Ohio. I became a travel nurse and landed in Utah with my new husband. I still travel presently to Washington but as i get older i want to phase out working in the Icus and do prevention and alternative medicine. I still come to ohio occasionally and do educational seminars on vitamins and antioxidants. If you have any ideas on this topic I would appreciate your help.
Thanks!
I am sure they do, what state are you in? I have done some alternative training in GA, LA, SC, NC, TN, & there are lots in CA & CO (where my HT program originated).
