Hi Susan,
The actual NCLEX is harder than Saunders, and Lippincott. I did a couple of Saunders and lippincott tests and found that i was scoring well on those.I never used the Mosby, MedsPub, and Thomson so cant say much about that. I did the complete Kaplan course which includes question banks and question trainers. If you have taken the kaplan course then you will find the nclex questions easier. The Kaplan questions are designed to be harder than the NCLEX, so when you take the real test you will find it easier. I passed with 75 questions. By the time i took my test i had done about 2500-3000 questions and 90% were Kaplan questions. I hope i answered your questions. Goodluck for the test.!!!
I took the Kaplan course, completed every question trainer and question bank, and passed with 75 questions in about an hour and 15 minutes. I thought Kaplan was, on the whole, much harder than the actual NCLEX questions. There were of course NCLEX questions that stumped me but in general I felt very well prepared by Kaplan (after I found out I passed of course, ha:))
I agree with the first post, you've done a good job preparing for it! Pat yourself in the back for that!
The actual questions i might say are a bit similar, construction wise, not exactly duplicate, but you'll get an idea on how to attack it if you've prepared well. Otherwise, you'll dismiss it as too easy, and may actually make mistakes.
Good Luck! :)
hi rns,i am taking the nclex this saturday. my really quick question is this: are the actual questions on the test harder than, easier than or about the same as the practice questions? i have studied using medspub, saunders, mosby, thomson, lippincott, and kaplan questions. thanks! wish me luck!
regards, susan
i used saunders and mosby primarily. as others have said, the nclex seems harder than any of the practice questions.
i say "seems" because while i felt truly comfortable with few of my answers while taking the nclex, it shut off after 75 questions, and i passed.
so, my perception is that the nclex was really hard, yet the results were fine.
relax the day before--do something enjoyable and don't study--get a good night's rest, and when you start the test, don't get worried if the questions make you feel like you never went to nursing school.
best of luck to you.
