All Wcccd Nursing Students

U.S.A. Michigan

Hi there, I am trying to get our nursing school involved in the NSNA, (National Student Nurse Association). I received the packet today on how to recruit members, our school has not been involved in this organization in a few years, and I thought it is a good affiliation to belong to. Anyone interested let me know. It says we need 10 members before January 30, 2008. It doesn't matter what semester or level you are at, I encourage the first semester students to join as well. Let me know...

Thanks for all the responses, I am surprised!! ... I had brought this up to my clinical group and they thought I was crazy, they didn't want anything to do with it. This would really benefit the new students as well, because if all goes well, I will be done with school in Dec. 08'. Looking forward to hearing back from you all...

Hey A! Ahem...Not ALL of us thought you were crazy. Would you please bring a copy of the pamplet to clinicals for me? I think dropping them off at the nursing office is a great idea--if they'll let you. Then everyone could pick them up on lottery day. You might want to hang one near the nursing lab too, along with a note saying there are copies in the office. We really have to get cookin' on this as next term is going to be a toughie, so I hear.

Good job A! :lol2: Talk to you soon,

T

Hi everyone! I TOO start in Jan '08, would love the info..thanks :)

Hi D! I'm not sure what your question means? are you talking about commitment time? I am not really sure, I have to read more on that, but all the other schools around us have a membership, so I am assuming it will not interfere with our studies...when I went to EMU, they had one and there was a monthly meeting during day hours on a Friday I believe, for like an hour. It was not anything outrageous, and then they had an email/website for the EMU nursing students to post recipe's, pictures, helpful articles etc..., it actually was quite interesting and fun to belong to. Everyone's voice is equal and we have chances to win scholarships, trips, etc...I really need to get this brochure to you, it explains everything...okay talk to you soon.

Thanks, that is exactly what I am asking. Did you leave the info in the nursing office yet? I will check the office next Friday. I know you are busy this week......whhoooo, I need need to survive 5 more days then our long awaited NEEDED break. Are you counting with me?

I am definitely with you on the NEEDED break!! I am not going to be an OB nurse, that's for sure...

Will be glad it's almost finally over and looking forward to Psychiatric Nursing. I did not leave that info in the office yet, as I have been busy, but I am going to be there on Tuesday for our OB CAP, so I will do it then. Okay, talk to you soon.

Good luck on your final week and the testing. Wish me the same...This OB stuff is driving me crazy.

Andrea...you are silly...."I am not going to be an OB nurse" I am with you on that one! I know there is something for everyone. It was amazing, and beautiful.......but that is not my bag. Some in my group LOVED it.

I was going to call you this morning, but I realized I left my phone (with your phone number in it) in my hubby car and he is at work this morning.....agghhhhh! I will try to call you later on this week after FINALS.:chair: I am down to my final 22 of 250+ pages of reading for M/S 2....maybe another cup of coffee will motivate me to do it.

Sorry this is late, but I had to finish clinicals, CAP exam and Final Theory exam, we are all done. I did leave that info in the Nursing office, however they said I need someone working with us, from the Nursing office, so they assigned the nursing adviser, and I have to call her. I don't know if they left those brochures out or not, there were not that many, so first come, first serve...I know Terrie had posted that possibly everyone could pick one up on lottery day, but that is not going to happen, so see what they tell you in the office. It's getting a little discouraging, as the nursing adviser is not a nurse, and we need a nurse working with us from our school. We need to get 10 members by Jan. 30th, 2008. It has all the benefits listed in the brochure, and they have a website, google National Student Nurse Association. I believe it is http://www.nsna.org

If there is any other nursing student out there who's school belongs to this, I would love to hear from you, we all would. I am trying to get it started again at our school. Someone used to have it going, but it fell by the wayside, and I didn't feel like I had much support on the office's side...we will see though. I will keep you posted...enjoy your break everyone!!! Happy Holidays

Why don't you ask Maddie or Caroline to work with you on this? I think it is a great idea and I believe Maddie or Caroline would be more than willing to help. Good luck!

That would be nice, but the nursing office assigns someone to help on it..that is Keisha, the nursing advisor. I will probably see her tomorrow at the Lottery. I will keep everyone posted..

I would like to be part of it for sure .

I just wanted to bump this thread up to see if we are going to do this at WCCCD. I think it would be a good thing and give us opportunities to do some of the community service things and have the affiliations needed for many of the nursing scholarships.

I hope we can do this and get it started soon.

It is quite surprising that a chapter hasn't been started at our school long ago considering all of the perks and opportunities. Plus, it is something that looks pretty good on the resume.

I personally considered just joining on my own before I found this thread. The membership fee for new members is $30 for the year but increases during renewal. They also offer the option to pay for two years upfront for $70.

Will the fee be cheaper if a chapter is started through the college?
