Please advise!
WyandotteMomma, Thank you for your replies. I hope I didn't offend you in any way, my friend is just really nervous about that XW and having someone that actually had an XW and was accepted makes all the difference! Thank you again for all your help!

Please advise!
Thank JillianRN2B! We really wanted to hear from someone that had an XW on their transcript and gotten in to their program! I can't wait to tell my friend the good news! Thank you so much!

Please advise!
Thanks Wyandotte, we already know that it wont factor into her GPA because XW's don't affect the GPA anyway. What she is concerned with is whether or not it will affect her chances of getting into the program because it is a walk away status. Thank you so much for replying though!

I am reposting this as a main thread because I just realized that I may have hijacked that other thread with a question that didn't go along with the other thread. I have a friend who is applying in May for WCCCD's nursing program and she has a class that she took online that the instructor was impossible and she was failing the class. This class is NOT a corequisite or prerequisite for the nursing program. Anyway, the instructor gave her an XW instead of a fail and now she is worried about that being on her transcript for the nursing program application. I am not sure what to tell her because I really don't know how it will affect her chances of getting in. She has a 3.9 GPA and she got an 86 on the NET test. Do you think this XW will hinder her chances of getting into the program? I told her worse case scenerio she will have to retake that class and then reapply for the following semester. What do you guys think? She is really worried about it and I just dont know what to tell her! TIA!

Information meeting at WCCCD
I think this could be a good thing and a bad thing.... On another note I have a question for anyone that may have an answer, opinion or whatever LOL... WCCCD ?'s!
I have friends that just graduated from WCCCD's nursing program this past December and they all feel that they received a wonderful education at WCCCD. Their program is intense, but you learn so much. One friend of mine had said that in the beginning she didn't feel like she was learning anything because of the fast pace. Then one day it just all clicked and poof she felt like a nurse...I believe is was what rntoben2008 was referring to about learning to think like a nurse. Anyway, a couple of my other friends are entering their final semester next week and they too feel that they have received more than adequate education. All of them have mentioned the downfalls to WCCCD's program, however, I do feel that you will find that at any school. It does suck, I will admit, however, you have to take the good with the bad. I agree with rntoben2008 that it would be best for you to stay where you are at and go for your BSN. rntoben2008, dont have any regrets! You are two semesters away from graduating and nothing can take that away from you! Never have regrets, just look to your future and continue doing what you are doing.....Good luck to the both of you!

Help with WCCCD GPA
WCCCD uses a straight grading system of 4.0, 3.0, 2.0 etc. They don't give out 3.7 or - grades. Keep that in mind when you are figuring your GPA for WCCCD.

All Wcccd Nursing Students
Why don't you ask Maddie or Caroline to work with you on this? I think it is a great idea and I believe Maddie or Caroline would be more than willing to help. Good luck!

WCCCD waiting on letter
syncere! you are so right! do not let anyone tell you otherwise. as far as wcccd goes, their accredidation is with the mbon and that is all that is needed to get licensed in michigan. i have the same plans as you do, although i have not applied yet to the nursing program (doing that this september for january entry) i do plan on going as far as i can go. i actually want to teach nursing so i need my msn with teaching credentials. i will teach clinicals with my bsn while i am working on my msn! the skies the limit for us all! keep your eye on the prize...i like that quote! :)

Hey you new WCCCD Nsg students!!
You guys are awesome! I have a friend who is in her third semester at WCCCD and she was one of those that said the first 7.5 weeks was torture. She said the load gets lighter after that and if you can survive the first 7.5 weeks then you can survive anything. I know that everyone has their own issues that will conflict with studying and lab work and so forth. I am just trying to identify everything that may be a hurdle and deal with it now before (if I get in) start the program. I am not a 4.0 student so I guess that worries me too. I hear those nursing test aren't like anything you have ever taken before. Do you guys study in groups or by yourselves? The girl I know in the program now says to beware of studying in groups because not everyone studies the same way and that can actually hurt you instead of helping you. One more thing, do you guys agree with not being able to work part-time while in the program. Do either of you work? I want to work as a CNA while in school and I keep hearing this is not advisable.

Hey you new WCCCD Nsg students!!
Hey Thanks for the great advice. I haven't heard anything negative about nursing school, just that is extremely hard and time consuming. I have a couple of friends who are in the program now and I see what they are going through and that is what really scares me. I agree that what is hard for one person may not be hard for another which is perfectly normal. I have 2 children that requires a lot of my time and I guess that is what worries me. Will I have to choose between school and my kids. Do you have any kids? If so, do you feel nursing school takes away from your time with your children? My husband is very supportive and contributes a lot with the kids, but I still cant help but worry about the time. I know you all have probably heard all of this before. Anywho, thanks for all the great tips, I will definitely seek out some pointers on time management. Good luck in your "4th" week of nursing school.

Hey you new WCCCD Nsg students!!
Congrats on finishing up week 2 of the program! I try not to read to much of how hard or overwhelming it is because it just scares the daylights out of me. Did you guys feel the same way before you started? I am so scared! :stone
