After a few months of a gluten-free diet, the intestinal villi often recover enough so that lactose intolerance isn't so much of a problem. It is trauma to the villi that cause lactose intolerance symptoms in celiac disease. It's not that dairy contains glutens.
I guess I'd like a more specific question. Dairy products are not off-limits for all celiac disease patients.
THANKS! c here's the deal...that was a question on one of my tests and i needed everyone's opinion because i picked...apples, chicken, and milk...because as a nurse i would not want to give the patient milk with celiac just in case. I got the question wrong the answer was apples and chicken....but i think the question should be pulled because it really does not specify much, what do you think????...thanks again.
