Hi everyone! I decided to start this thread in hopes of seeing if there is anyone excited about applying to the fscj RN program spring 2013. I am currently taking a microbiology class this summer. I would have applied for fall 2012 but met with some technical difficulties. I have 206 in total points w/o micro. Let's stay in touch and keep this ball rolling!
Hey guys!
I'm currently in the program and have some first term books to unload. Once you are accepted let me know if you're interested.
Good luck to everyone!
P.S. You probably won't find out until 1-2 weeks before you need to have everything turned in so be proactive and make sure you are checking your FSCJ email.
I applied as soon as I completed Micro over the summer with a total of 197 points, now that the deadline is up the waiting is killing me! I was pretty confident in my points when I turned in my application, now I'm starting to worry since I didn't quite make it over that magical 200 mark. Waiting for that letter to come is the hardest part....Good luck to everyone! :)
You probably won't hear back from them until the beginning of December (killer, I know). Check your FSCJ email, you will get the email before you get the letter. So don't panic!
Thanks! I heard for the Spring 2012 they actually got emails through FSCJ before they got their letters in the mail. But I remember seeing it took longer for them to get theirs b/c the nursing school got a new director or something!! I'm hoping it only takes 6-7 weeks max!!
I started last spring and I got my letter the first or second week of December. I was a UNF student at the time so I didn't check my FSCJ email and lots of people found out before me because they got the email first.
So now that the waiting has officially begun, anyone start researching what types of materials they will be getting for classes?
I thought I read that there's alot of stuff (uniform wise) that we'll only be able to get through the approved business? Is that right...what kind of stuff have you been looking at?
There is a lot of stuff you can get/do ahead of time, stethoscope, sphigmomanometer, white shoes, physical, PPD, MMR/Varicella/Hep B titers, TDAP, tetorifice vaccine, flu shot, and passport picture.
The uniforms come from a specific site and you have to have a code to access the correct uniform tops but you can get white scrub bottoms from anywhere.
The 2012 fall term received their letters or packages the 1st and 2nd week of July and the deadline was June 1st. I applied to the fall term 2012, and I received my letter the 1st week of July, and a lady in my mircobiology class received her acceptance package on the first week of July also. So hopefully we will receive our packets the first week of November. I found some useful nursing websites on dosing and calculations.

Littmann's aren't cheap but they are some of the best stethoscopes, I'd recommend the Classic II. If you don't want to spend that much just make sure your stethoscope has 2 sides (a bell and a diaphragm). You can get the BP cuff anywhere, allheart.com has some or you can buy it when you get your skills kit from stat line (they had someone selling them at our orientation). As of shoes make sure they are comfortable or you will end up having to buy another pair. Most of the nursing shoes are pretty good but I have a pair of white new balance that have worked well for me. Allegras are really popular among nurses. You can also buy uniforms from SNA at orientation rather than paying full price through Meridy's.Jess1011 - Any recommendations on stethoscope, sphigmomanometer, or shoes?
