All FSCJ Spring 2013 Hopefuls

U.S.A. Florida

Hi everyone! I decided to start this thread in hopes of seeing if there is anyone excited about applying to the fscj RN program spring 2013. I am currently taking a microbiology class this summer. I would have applied for fall 2012 but met with some technical difficulties. I have 206 in total points w/o micro. Let's stay in touch and keep this ball rolling!

Excellent advice! Thank you, LPNnow!

PLEASE READ!!!! Important Info THAT EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW:

I went to drop my application off today. Something told me to ask the woman at the desk about the CPR certification, and thank God I did!!! Anyway, she said things have changed, and now it is REQUIRED to submit your CPR certification by the application deadline, October 1. In the past it wasn't required until after you were accepted, but apparently, once the students got accepted, they would forget to do submit them. So to stop this, the nursing committee recently decided to make it mandatory. :arghh:

I did submit my application without it, because she said I could bring the certification back anytime before the deadline. UGHH! now I'm scrambling trying to find a class. Anyone live in the Argyle/Oakleaf/Westside/Orange Park area wanna take one within the next week or so? Also, does anyone know of a class where you can get your cert on the same day you take the class? I called SignetCPR and he said it'd be about 10 business days. That leaves way too much uncertainty for me!!!

*sigh*.... breathe in, breathe out.....

After searching and calling frantically for a class, I got a class set up for this Saturday at 9:00am in Orange Park with N**** C***** (the second person on this list) in case anyone wants to join. 40 bucks. She prints out the cert when you're done! :)

She told me to tell my friends (that means you guys) that she does have some opening left for Saturday, just give her a call and she'll set it up. Also, she has one Sunday morning at her house, but it's $10 more.

Yikes!!!!! I hope my CPR certificate comes soon! I hand-delivered my application on August 6th, and I didn't even think to ask. I'm on hold for CJ right now...

It really caught me by surprise. I'm SO glad I asked. I wouldn't have known otherwise!

Thank you for letting us all know! I swear FSCJ likes to switch things up on a regular basis. I guess we should get used to it...if we get into the program, of course. Oh, and have fun with your class!! The AED is actually pretty cool. The one I practiced with sang, "Staying Alive" by the Bee Gees ;)

I'm pretty excited. The lady I talked to was pretty funny and very nice on the phone! Glad to get it out the way, too!

I went to Critical Actions Safety Center off of Atlantic and Monument Rd (For those closer to the beach area). They have your certification the same day as well. For our class they offer a book, but you don't need to buy it. I think the class cost 45 dollars and I had signed up three days before the class.

I like the position "I guess we better get used to it" - that really is the motto of nursing. In fact, all through the LPN program, especially when there was a significant change to the calandar or syllabus, the administration would remind us that "nurses are flexible". We got used to it after while, and none of the changes were earth shattering, but there are a few unprofessional people in the program that would make things uncomfortable.

So, I think you have a real "leg up" with that type of attitude.

Good luck in CPR! For what it is worth - I updated my CPR about 3 weeks ago at Memorial Hospital and it was $50. The gentleman that taught the class was very professional and made the class interesting. He is a retired EMT.

Does anyone know where I can get CPR certified on the Northside?

Hey where did you do your cpr class? I am trying to find a good affordable place.
