Hi everyone! I decided to start this thread in hopes of seeing if there is anyone excited about applying to the fscj RN program spring 2013. I am currently taking a microbiology class this summer. I would have applied for fall 2012 but met with some technical difficulties. I have 206 in total points w/o micro. Let's stay in touch and keep this ball rolling!
A 206.4 sounds great mandasue! Especially without Micro!NICE DTW90!! I am applying with 206.4. If I don't make it this term then hopefully an A in micro will get me in for next term (but I am crossing my fingers for this one!!).
Now I'm trying to figure out if N/W will be my 1st choice or if I'd be better off with Days. Luckily, my family is very supportive and I can go to school without working. However, I've been working full-time and it'll be a huge adjustment to my bank account if I stop (who doesn't like a steady cash flow? ).
I work in IT, and there is no such thing as 40 hours a week in IT--we work about 50-60 hrs/week and work from home a lot, and occasionally come in on weekends (very draining), so my current job definitely won't allow for it. There's a chance I'd get called in to work during class-time. So obviously, if I do decide to do N/W while working, I'd have to find a new job. I also worry about being burned out.
I'm leaning more towards Days, and possibly working part-time, if I can. I'm just so glad I have my family there to help me out if I do choose Days.
Just took the PSB-NAT about 2 hours ago. Allthough I feel good about my scores, I'm still do not feel very well positioned to get in because I live in Clay County.
NAT results: Academic - 62 Reading - 28 Science - 70 = 160 x .64 = 102.4
So, I will be applying with total points of 226.4 (including prerequistes 104, LPN exp 20).
I'm currently enrolled in Micro and cannot use those points.
I have used the postings on this site to help guide me in the application process. Thank you to all who have posted and shared your experiences.
Hi Mandasue,
I think both scores are great! I'm just a little fearful as we do live in Clay County. I have all prerequistes done for St. John's State College except nutrition, but I really would prefer to attend FSCJ. My wife and I both became LPNs through FCCJ, and she later became an RN through FCCJ. In the medical community FSCJ is golden.
Best of luck! and fingers crossed for us both neighbor.
p.s. I live in Doctors Inlet.
Honestly I did not study one bit and got some really good scores. It is just a bunch of everything so it is best to clear your mind and relax rather than worry about studying in my opinion. RNhopeful.. I live in Fleming Island! I am currently taking statistics and nutrition just in case I don't make it. Then I might be able to make it into UNF's program? Just maybe. I don't want to settle for St. Johns either. I have heard awful stories about their program. Good luck to you!
saldridge...I bought the Peterson's review book. I actually delayed taking the test because I was so intimidated by some of the material that I read in the book. September was counting down, so I just took the test with the information that I already had. And it worked out fine.
So, take mandasue's cue - just take the test. Go at a quick pace through the test - I found I only got into trouble when I questioned my first choice.

Is his course certified through the American Heart Association? I am a little nervous that it is at his residence...
