Air Force nursing FY2021

Published

Hello all,

I have looked all over this site in hopes of finding others that are getting their packets ready and are applying to the Air Force this fall. I have not found any recent threads on this.

I am applying for an ER spot. I have been a RN for 7 years and work in a Level II trauma emergency center. I have my MSN-Administrative Leadership and TCRN. Is there anyone out there that is also getting their packets ready for October boards? My recruiter told me that because of COVID everything has been pushed back and that boards will meet in October this year. He also told me that I would be going to MEPS and doing my medical in the next 3 weeks.

Yeah I went TDY to Germany a month ago and had to quarantine for 2 weeks when I got back. My base is also canceling drill weekend for December because of Covid spike so looks like more restrictions are on the way...

Oh no... I suppose. We are currently on our 2nd national lockdown right now. Maybe the vaccines will start kicking in soon ?.

My hospital sent out an email this week saying when a Covid vaccine is available it will be optional, yet getting a flu vaccine is mandatory... I’m not following the logic behind that

I was not on the list for Jan 5th. I was told I’d probably go February 21st (I believe that was the date).
Your can let all of us know that aren’t going then what to expect and what bring with us?

Were you given a PCS station as well? Don’t we get both prior to signing anything?

Just got word from my recruiter to “expect leaving in January” and that she will be sending forms later today...and now I’m only slightly panicking LOL. That’s so soon!

Did anyone's recruiter say that both nurses and nurse practitioners would be getting results at the same time?

From what I understood, nurse practitioners were on a rolling board. Not sure what those dates look like though.

Ah got it. I applied for the FNP position and still haven't heard back. Any other Nurse Practitioners waiting to hear back?

Yes. Me. Initially my recruiter thought NPs would be reviewed with this group, but apparently they were not. So more waiting.

Oh wow makes sense! Do you know when the next review will be?

Also did your recruiter say that they were not reviewed? Or is it because you haven't heard back? I'm fidgeting and want to know so bad! Haha

When hubs did this last year, we found out acceptance, then later found out leaving date, then later found out base, then barely before he left he got orders. But yes, it all has to be on the paperwork before you sign.
