Air Force NTP 2014

Specialties Government

Published

Hello guys! I've been reading all the Air Force nursing posts and threads for a few months now, but it doesn't seem like there's been much activity on people applying this July for NTP. I'm just looking for other people who've applied and are twiddling their thumbs like me!! Anyone out there applying for the NTP and not COT?!

Did you mean August or September?

I meant September. But seeming how it is August, it doesn't really make sense. HA

Thanks @Johnro. Its been a long week at work, and all this waiting is getting to me apparently :)

So does that mean we could be waiting another month before we know anything?

I suppose it does mean that. I sure hope not...

I called and spoke with the recruiter..I guess there was another email sent out this week saying they are still waiting. You are right, it is awful!!

Dang, this is getting a little ridiculous. I know its the govt, but dang. Lots of things to do in a time period that is rapidly decreasing in size.

but a 'yes' would be worth the wait

I'm not sure whether or not this has already been said, but you probably won't leave for COT until January. I found out in Oct and didn't go until March.

I know that my recruiter said it would probably be Jan. ,but as I was reminded when I posted that info, some were told by their recruiter that they would go in Oct.

Talking with my reserve unit, my Chief said that for our unit, she would usually get the next fiscal years budget summary, no later then mid Sept.

Hopefully we wouldn't have to wait that long.

There's extra paperwork once you get selected (including your acceptance document). They don't even run your background check until after you're selected. It will take weeks just to get that stuff done. Then, all that paperwork is submitted to personnel/HQ to issue your orders. You can't get your household goods moved or book flights until you have orders. You will be lucky to have orders 2 months after you get accepted.

Yeah luckily I don't need a background check, just had one. I have been in the reserves for 15 yrs, so hopefully everything will not take as long. I am still a drilling MSgt, so I am in the system. Fingers crossed that I am selected! I wish everyone could get selected, since there were less applicants! :-)

Does anyone happen to know when we can join the AF Reserves... for instance how much experience/time as practicing RNs we need to have before we can join? And is it as competitive as joining the AF as an active duty member? I'm trying to get together a plan in case this doesn't work out. I'm about to accept a job as nurse bc I'm not sure how much longer this could be, but in the event I am not selected, I still really want to be part of the military. Anybody have any info?
