i got some sad news today. my recruiter just called me about a half hour ago saying that there is no more money for the loan repayment, and that i need to sign updated paperwork for an alternate. i don't know what that means. does anybody have any idea? like...could they possibly just give me loan repayment for the next fiscal year 2011?

Did you already sign papers for the loan repayment bonus. My wife and I are getting commissioned tomorrow and I know we have more paperwork to sign, but i hope we don't have sign for less money. :uhoh3:

The paperwork I signed when I commissioned was in regards to Tricare and my offical pay offer letter. There was nothing in there about the loan repayment.

Congrats on commissioning tommorrow!:yeah:

Don't give up - this is what happened to me, and I'm getting the loan repayment now. It's possible you may get it. What's happened is they've essentially promised all their money for this fiscal year to current applicants, but it's possible more money may become available later on, and if it does, you'll be contacted. I was contacted during COT about my loan repayment - which I'd been told I wasn't going to get.

So don't give up just yet.

Ok my wife and I met with our recruiter today and I asked him what it meant to be an alternate. He said that the sign on bonus is still available, but loan repayment money has run out. As an alternate should someone back out you could take their loan repayment or possible get your bonus's next fiscal year.

Basically you have to re-initial the paper you signed for the bonus and school loan saying that it was offered but funds were not available and you understand that. Not a big deal. I had to re-do mine.

Also, to add to this, the paperwork that you signed that said you'd accept the loan will supersede the paperwork you're signing saying the funds aren't available. I found that out when I was contacted about my repayment.

I was contacted by the program manager at Wright-Patt AFB for ADHPLRP by email on 2-4 and was told that I have one of the 91 slots that is eligible for loan repayment (I am May 24 COT if I go). The only way my loans will not be repaid is if my lender can not verify my debt (how the heck can this happen?), if I don't complete COT/NTP and if I don't follow up on the final loan paperwork. Check your email maybe you got one too?

Hey adammRN-

I haven't gotten any email. My recruiter told me that there are currently no funds available, but in the event that someone turns down their loan repayment, I could be able to get it this fiscal year. Maybe, I'll even get it in the next fiscal year? Who knows? The AF is unpredictable. I'm learning to adjust. hehe

Thanks everyone for the response.

Which COT class are you in? My recruiter told me there were no funds available a week or so before I got the email....
