I'm just curious if anyone else is applying for the Air Force FY 2019 boards as FQ that start Oct 8th? I am going in as clinical nurse but have ER experience.

Thanks for the update. I'm hoping I get to leave for COT in the summer of 2020.... May-June would be fantastic. Given if I get in...........
I had a hard time preparing but I got some great advice. There is an app called 6 weeks for the sit ups and push ups. For the run, do 30 second sprints followed by a short walk, do it 6 times on Mondays and Wednesday’s. Time yourself on Friday. You’ll get faster every week. Good luck.
I LOVE THE AIR FORCE!!
Working half as hard, getting paid twice as much and our patients are literally the best in the world.

Rhonda, having worked both sides of the fence myself, I take exception to most of that.
The higher "twice as much" pay in the AF is debatable...but you probably did get a raise if you're from somewhere in the Southeast. You could make quite a bit more money as a travel nurse in California...contractor RNs in the bay can make $100/hr.
Since you're expected to routinely deploy as an AF nurse, often working six 12-hour shifts a week for 6 months straight, I highly doubt you routinely work "half as much" as you did in the civilian sector. Sure, the day-to-day stateside/non-deployed military nurse job may have lower acuity patients. However, I suspect you've so-far missed out on the plethora of additional duties that most AF nurses enjoy; they tend to fill-up any down-time you get.
I don't imagine I'll be working half as hard since there's collaterals I keep hearing about, and I will definitely be taking a pay cut joining the AF since there's no time dif, overtime pay, and holiday pay correct?
I'm not too worried about PFT atm, first priority is to get in!! Then I can worry about meeting the PFT standards. I'm waiting for Sept to fly by so Oct can come with board results!
@jfratian What are the chances for FQ Clinical Nurse being assigned to a OCONUS base as their first assignment? Does it happen or do the AF like new AF nurses stateside for their first base?
The cutoff date for your interview was 08/30. The board closes 09/09, but if you didn’t get your interview done by 08/30 you missed the board. You won’t know how many applied unless you ask your recruiter when the results come out. Last October my recruiter was able to tell me how many applied.
I feel like I'm pulling teeth just to hear something from my AF recruiter meanwhile my Navy recruiter text/email updates me regarding my application even when I don't ask for it. Deadline to submit everything to the board is fast approaching and I'm afraid my AF recruiter going to email me the day before the deadline like OH HEY I NEED THIS. My recruiter is just now telling me things like "One of your LOR isn't signed" and insert me trying to contact the recommender (months later...) to send another signed letter before Sept 9th ?
I hear from my AF recruiter once a month if I'm lucky, and it's almost frustrating being told to do XYZ no later than the next day at a certain time to meet certain deadlines when I could have been told to do this forever ago, and when I text/email her for updates I get nothing for 1-2 months at a time. I am hoping this is unique to my recruiter and not AF in general. I would hate to not be able to submit to Oct board because of my recruiter's late responses....
@Jessica73 Do you know why you didn't make the cut last year? And what did you do different this year to make yourself more competitive? And if we don't make the Oct selection, are we able to resubmit for the Jan board?

October 11th is “release date”, do I expect to know by then, of course not lol. It will probably be the end of October.
