Aiken Tech Fall 2014 hopefuls!!

Hey you guys... I am trying to go ahead and upload some of my things on Certified Profile to get it out of the way and approved. Have any of you already started uploading items? If so, what did you use for each of your immunizations, etc. I have a copy of my immunization from the GRITS website which is the Ga site that all the health departments use to view to see a patients vaccination history. Do you all think this will work or do I need to do something different. I'm trying to get on top of these things because it looks like it takes them a little while to review the documents and approve/deny them and the deadline is fastly approaching!!! :)

I'm not sure, I don't have a copy of any of my immunizations, everything that I will be uploading is new and will be coming from a doctor/nurse practitioner.

Gotcha! Well for now, I just uploaded what I have and either they will accept it or deny it. If they deny it, I will work with the places where the immunizations were given to get it handled. Some of the items I just had completed so they are brand new and should be no problem at all but some things are from previous years. I guess we will see... I'm getting so anxious for orientation to start so we can get more information about what to expect, registering for classes, and so we can all finish purchasing our items such as scrubs, books, etc.... Can't wait! :)

Anxious2beanurse, did you get anything from your CPR class? I just made my account and it's asks for CPR certification, however I was told that we would receive our CPR cards on the first day of class. I'm not sure what we're supposed to upload.

Never mind, I found out that Walgreens has the influenza vaccine available.

Nickh, I am not going to load anything for the CPR certification at this time. The school has record of who took the certification and who didnt. I know the prof said she hopes that we get them back by our 2nd orientation but if not it should def be back before the first day of class. I am mainly focusing on the other requirements right now. Glad you found that Walgreens had the influenza vaccine. How much does the vaccine cost there? I havent really looked into the influenza vaccine very much since the deadline on CertifiedProfile says it isnt until 10-1-14 for the influenza to be done (im guessing b/c it isnt technically like flu season right now). Anyways, I feel like I am getting a little accomplishd..little by little. LOL. My blood work came back and I noticed my doctors office tried to contact me but I didnt answer so I guess I will go and get that and submit it on the website. I have 1 out of the 9 requirements completed on the to do list. However, a lot of the stuff is pending review. Just ready for this to be over!!!

Uggh, me too. And I seen that about the flu shot last night, so I'm waiting until September for that too. It's $32 at Walgreens and CVS.

Thanks Nickh! I really appreicate it! I think I may wait on the influenza just because I have tuition and books to buy still LOL... So i ordered the calculating with confidence book online and i ordered the 5th edition because thats what the syllabus said and I was planning on attending the health calculations camp..however, now i look at the atc bookstore and it looks like it says we need the 6th edition... does anybody know which edition we need for sure..because i would love to have the right one.. :)

Hmm, the bookstore says 6th edition, but I bought the 5th edition too. I'll just go with 5th edition personally.

It also says that we need the 8th edition pharmacology book, but I have the 7th edition.

Yeah I seen that too Nickh! I also think there is a newer edition listed for the Comprehensive Handbook of Lab + Diagnostics or whatever it's called. And I could have swore I saw another book added on the book store website too that I didn't see on the syllabus- clinical simulations for nursing education or something like that. It's just crazy that the bookstore website has one thing and the syllabus has another. Especially since the fundamentals of nursing syllabus was just updated in May of this year- looks like any new additions would have been updated too. I personally think they should have just went ahead and sent out the list of books in our packets that way everyone could go ahead and buy them.

The new book that wasn't listed before is "Clinical simulations for nursing education ", I just ordered that one since I didn't buy it before.

Hi Again! Congrats to everyone who was accepted this time!! I haven't been on this site forever, so I'm trying to catch up...

About the books... Anxious2beanurse- I assumed the same thing based syllabus and also purchased some of the books. Then I talked to Ms. Williams and she told me that we were safe buying the Foundations books and to get the sixth ed. of the calculations book, but to hold off getting the rest of them until we receive the book list at orientation because they could be changing some of them.

I noticed that the ISBN number was wrong on our letter for the Calculate with Confidence book, so my friend called and verified the edition that they wanted us to get. She said that we need the sixth edition. They usually don't change too much between the editions. I've been fine with using an older editions in the past, but I got the most recent one this time just in case. Nick- Since I have the 6th edition, you can check your book against mine to make sure they didn't change anything drastic this semester :)
