Aiken Tech Fall 2014 hopefuls!!

Published

Has anyone applied for the ADN program at Aiken Tech? I know the deadline for applications isn't until May 30th but I have had my paperwork ready and submitted it today and the suspense is killing me ALREADY!! Just wanted to see if anyone else was waiting to get in and wanted to see how many points others had, their GPA and teas scores.

Lol I hope they will too. I actually don't have to take it because I got certified in May of last year and I was worried that because my maiden name was on it I would just have to do it again but the assistant told me not to worry about it. Yay for not having to sit in a 6 hour class! Lol

Hey, y'all! I'm coming late to this thread, but I'll be in the fall ADN program, too. I was wondering where I need to go or what I need to do to get the titer test...It's been years since I"ve seen my shot records and it's getting too close to the due date to bother searching for them.

Hi TJK01, your doctor can order the titer, then you'll have to go to a lab to have blood taken. I ordered my titer labs on accesalabs.com, because of the time frame, it was $207 for MMR, Varicella and the Hepatitis B surface antigen test. I had my blood drawn today and should receive the results by Monday at the latest.

I did mine this way because my yearly wellness appointment is the 16th, and my insurance covers immunizations 100% if they're needed, but they won't cover them unless a titer shows that I need them, If I wait until the 16th for my doctor to order them I may not have time to be immunized before the 25th if my titer comes back negative.

And I found my immunization record from my high school, but it was incomplete as it only showed one MMR, and I was born before the Hepatitis B and Varicella Vaccine, so I had chickenpox when I was 11. I had to choose the surface antigen Hep B titer and I'll have to sign a waiver. I plan on getting the vaccinations anyways, but I could never get all three before the 25th

Hey Y'all! Coming in late to the thread, but I'll be in the fall ADN program. I'm a little unsure of how to go about getting titer tests done. My records are out of state and I'm worried it'll take too long to track them down. Any advice?

Thanks for the info, Nick. That sounds like the way I'll need to do it, too.

Hey! I scheduled an appointment with my doctor and I just got blood drawn and actually received my results for the titer today. I would just schedule an appointment with your doc and show them your paper work and everything you need.

Yeah, definitely make a doctors appointment if you can, I only ordered my titers through accesa because I couldn't make an appointment to see my doctor until the 16th.

Ok you guys! Sorry I havent been on here in awhile...just REALLY stressing out right now! I had already tested positive for TB back in 2006 due to being a carrier for it..Therefore, i didnt have to go back through the TB testing process again. However, I did have to get records of my positive TB test and have a chest xray done yesterday. The results are supposed to be in from my chest xray today :) And i also got a tetorifice booster shot and a physical yesterday as well. Now it appears the only things I have left to do it the hepatitis b titer and the varicella titer b/c it appears i only received one of those vaccinations and not the second one (which is crazy)....

We're almost there Anxious2beanurse, I hope your xray comes in quick. The titers only take a few days.

I never had the varicella or the Hepatitis B vaccine at all, they were after my time. I plan on getting the Hepatitis B vaccine now though.

I just left the CPR class, our Fundamentals of Nursing instructor also teaches CPR, she is really fun, I'm excited about starting.

That's exciting Nickh! I'm trying to get into a CPR class but for some reason the lady has not returned my call or emailed me back to schedule me for one of the cpr classes. I tried to get in for today but never heard from her so I'm gonna try again for next Thurs so I can go to the dr next Tues to do my titers. Then all I will need to do is upload all my stuff, drug screen, orientations and registration, and pay tuition and buy books!! Ugh, that sounds like an awful lot to have done by aug 18th!!
