agency

Hello:monkeydance: Nurses,

My question is about all these agencies,i read thread that says to avoid them and go directly and apply with the hospital,My question now is,will the employer of the hospital file papers for my greencard or work permit?if yes ,am i expected to pay him for that?if no,will my salary be same with other nurses that didnt have thier employers file for them or would it be as low as when am using an agency?

Thanks and God bless

:nurse:

Your thread is moved to International, as this is more appropraite there.

Most direct hires will either pay for your fees, or issue a bonus and you pay for them. Your salary will be the same as the others that they employ.

Hi, I just talked with my friend and she told me that her agency preferred cgfns than nclex. She said that cg is better coz she will be employed right away in many states unlike nclex. I don't get the reasoning of the agency because nclex is already the ultimate test for one to become a US RN. Why do they mislead us? If it weren't for the enlightening views of Suzanne and others, I may take cg also. I posted this here in relation to the topic. This is just a sort of verbalizing my feelings. I just hope that agencies will lighten our way and provide us with correct informations.

Stay away from those agencies whose staff aren't even nurses as well as reviewers that haven't even taken the NCLEX..

It doesn't matter what they tell you who they are. If they are not US licensed or haven't passed the NCLEX they don't have the right to be an NCLEX reviewer. Seasoned educators, or those claiming who have an M.A.N in the Philippines, in my honest opinion, also don't have the right to be reviewers for the NCLEX if they haven't done it. You can't teach what you haven't done. And most of those aren't even computer and internet literate.

Remember, you can pass the NCLEX even if you self-study and if you need extra help you might as well go for someone who has done it and passed it.

Sorry, but that is horrible information. And shame on the agency. First, most stsates no longer even use the interim permit............that means that the agency is not going to pay the nurse at the full rate when they get over here. Sorry, but they are being cheap and will not even be submitting for the license process until your firend gets here. And may even pat them at CNA wages of between $7 to $10 per hour, even for NY and CA.

Nurses need to revolt against agencies like this, it is the only way for them not to do this to unsuspecting nurses.

And what they said makes no sense at all, with the NCLEx, you can get a license, and that means that they will have to pay the nurse a higher rate, that is what they are trying to get out of. I hope that your friend really did not sign a contract with them.

I have a friend that left the Philippines 2 weeks ago and now is employed in New York going thru this same path.

The reason is because the CGFNS is available in the Philippines and they can process the Visascreen even though you dont have NCLEX. The goal of the agency is to be able to send you right away with the minimum investment on their part.

If the agency will invest on your NCLEX that will cost them more money and gamble due to the uncertainty of the nurse passing the NCLEX.

I guess my friends objective is just to get out and work abroad. This is her own decision but anyways as of now she is working on a temporary permit while reviewing for NCLEX. She will take the NCLEX in New York.

Bigger mistake is that NY also requires the CVS, and that neds to be done for them to even get a Limited Permit to work there. Most are being brought over and having to work as CNAs for months first. That is what has ben actually holding up some visas in the Philippines, because of this very same thing. Some of the agencies were not starting any of the procedure for licensing in NY, not even for the CVS and we all know that it takes several months to get that.

Sorry, but shame on those agencies that are doing that, they do not care about the welfare of the nurse, only how much that they can put into their wallets. They are in the slave trade, and that went out long ago in the US. No one can live on $7 per hour in NYC..................and if they have not completed the CVS, that is what they are going to be getting.

We see it happen all of the time and it is shameful.

Please let me know as to when your friend actually gets their RN license, and will get an RN salary...it is going to be some time from now.

Thank you very much Suzanne, Lawrence and Lavalin, I will tell my friend about it. I hope that she hasn't signed the contract yet. As of now she has no plans of taking the nclex yet as per agency's advice but she already passed the cg and ielts.

CGFNS does not give a license to practice in the US as an RN. Some states will grant a limited permit to work as a nurse, but that means that all applicaitons have been submitted and that they have been approved to sit for the NCLEX exam, just have not taken it yet.

Anything else, and they will be working for $7 to $10 per hour as a CNA.

And shame on that agency..............

Again I ask my friend on how is she adjusting with her present situation and hows things with her agency.

She said her agency is quite alright, they have a housing accomodation available in New Jersey but the hospital is in Metropolitan Hospital in New York. The way she told me her situation is that she seems to be very satisfied with her condition. ( I guess she haven't heard of this website )

She said the housing accomodation is free of charge for the first 6 months in the US. By the 7th month she will need to pay the agency but the agency would give her discount.

So I inform her subtly to visit allnurses.com if she needs some help with her NCLEX review. So I assume once she saw the NCLEX forum at the same time visiting the international forum - opening her eyes on the real score with her agency and how they are misleading her.

And again, how many people are in her apt? She needs to get thru the CVS before NY will issue her a limited permit, and I am sure that the agency is just starting that, or just before she got here. That takes months.......so as I asked before, what salary is she actually getting? She cannot be getting an RN salary if she does not have a license, and does not have the CVS completed.

Specializes in awaiting for Schedule A visa...

I wonder how many nurse immigrants who passed CG have difficulty passing NCLEX. I guess the USCIS has the statistics.

If the passing rate is so low, I believe NCLEX will become mandatory to get an immigrant visa.

Why? The Labor Certification is for RN, not for LVN or NA. In the current situation, foreign born nurses who got greencard via CG and without NCLEX are competing with American LVNs and NAs.

But I guess the NCLEX-RN passing rate for CG passers are high.
