I've written about my frustration at not being able to find a NP position even though I graduated school 2 years ago. I may get interviews but I never get a call back. I seem to be able to find regular old RN jobs but that NP position keeps eluding me.
I went to an interview yesterday, and even though the doctor was sharing friendly small chat and showing me around the office and where I would share an office with the other NP, where everything was stored, what machines they used...yes, going good...asked me about salary...good sign...got all the way to the end I heard the ultimate reject line, "I've got your number."
I guess I sounded desperate, I don't know. I don't know if I can handle much more of this. I can't even get a locums tenens position. I don't know what to do about my student loans, I can't keep deferring them indefinitely. I'm wondering if I could get on disability since I can't find a job and get my student loans forgiven...I'm only half joking.
Am I the only fool out here struggling?

Employment caries greatly by area but 2 years seems abnormal for anywhere in the US.
Post a copy of your resume and let us take a look at it. Who are your references? Are they getting calls?
Are you asking for anything abnormal in terms of salary, benefits, part-time hours, off-hours?
What type of certification do you have?
Have you worked with your network contacts from clinical rotations? Do you belong to your state NP association? Do you go to events?
Do you have any restrictions on your license or with the DEA?

I agree. Something is amiss. Need more information.

What a strange thing to say in light of the fact that you don't mention having a disability - only that you can't find a job. One doesn't just "get on" disability without a qualifying disabling condition.
I find that statement to be offensive to legitimately disabled people.

I've posted as well about this. I'm "only" going on my 5th month of looking. Really no advice other than I agree 2 years seems odd. I know you posted last time and seemed depressed, and were beating up on yourself. Have you sought help? Do you think your feelings about yourself are coming through on interviews?

"Half-joking" makes it worse.
