big big thanks eissej_rn , maybe next week,if it's not raining,i'll try to apply there...with a tons and tons of applicants and not mentioning the new batch of registered nurses,i don't have the right to choose or maybe i can say that i should try different areas and not focusing on just one area...thanks from the bottom of my heart...... =) oppsss!!i forgot to ask are they open for volunteer or as a staff?anyway, whatever it is,i'll just go there and try my luck...hehehe....thanks eissej...

why don't you try applying in the afp nurse corps and be employed as a military nurse.:)

applying as military nurse is another option to consider, but it's more difficult applying this time...i myself have a pending application, 'm waiting for the interview. 'nyweiz if you're interested you may proceed to camp aguinaldo-bulwagang valdez...bring your credentials and be in the proper attire...prepare for the exam, they have a shorter exam for those with 80 and above board rating...

does anyone know if we can pre-register already for the Rn residency program?

will someone PM the contact number of AFP med center..? thanks

when did you take your exam?

hi fellow nurses. i took my rn residency in afp aug 2008~ march 2009. didactics is 1 month, after that i was assigned on a specialty area which is gu ward and was lucky enough to stay at one of my top choices which is or for 5 months. they do not accept residents in or anymore though.

there are 2 batches of this program. if you want to apply, try signing up on may (for august) and oct (feb). sceening process has 2 stages qualifying exam, so brush up with your computations. if you have a backer and did not pass the exam, you will be given a second chance to take the same exam but be sure to pass it the 2nd time. results will be posted on the bulletin board. if you pass, you will be given a schedule for your panel interview. panel interview is with the special areas head nurses, this is their chance to hand pick the ones they want to be assigned in their areas. those who will not get picked will be placed on rotations to different wards. the top 3 areas you chose in the beginning will only serve as guide for them to know what you want but it is not a guarantee you will get it. be prepared to answer questions related to your area of choice, if you choose er then brush up in prioritization.

didactics is 1 month, my advise is to brush up on procedures because at the end of the didactics you will have to do return demo and this is your ticket in passing so you could move on to the areas.

you could train for your iv therapy while waiting or you can take it there in afp so it would not be hard for you to complete your cases.

training there was great, it does not compare when we were in rle. here you will feel that you are truly a staff in the hospital. a piece of advice, never wait to be asked, have the initiative to learn their sops. always look for something to do, they do not like residents who are just sitting in the station and watching tv. if you are done with your charting, preparing of meds, do your individual rounds, talk to the patients. oh one more thing, always addressed co-workers, patients and even your co-residents as "sir" or "ma'am".

at the end of your training, you will be grouped and each group will do a case presentation. choose a very good topic and assist your patient personally since you will have to defend your management.

we were 88 residents who started in august but only 60 graduated.

they do not have physical requirements nor board rating requirements. if you are applying for nurse-corps then applications are done through ghq. board rating should be 80% above, height of 5'2 or 5'3 for girls (not so sure) must be single, they also have weight requirement, good eye vision and age should be below 23 y/o. hope this helps.

if you have a backer, would i need a letter of recommendation? if yes do i pass it before taking the exam and to whom would i address the recommendation letter? thanks in advance

Hi Manila07, nope, when you register they will ask you who recommended you (who your backer is) getting recommendation letters from CI or from your previous employer, or if you underwent training from other institution, will be added when you already pass your requirements. This is usually after you passed the qualifying exam.

Good evening everyone! I am new here.

May I just ask those who already had their Qualifying Exam for RN-Residency of AFP Medical Center, what are the topic included on the exam? How many items?

I am about to take the exam and preparing for it. What are the specific topics that I should review? Another thing, will they ask you if you have a backer that recommended you? What are the chances that you will be able to be hired after the training? Thank you.

They do not allow residents in the OR anymore. We were only 13 in the OR, Im sure you know me :yeah: We still keep in touch and we sometimes get together for no ocassion at all. Being in one area for 5 months really made us a solid team I must say. How about you? By the way, are you a member of our yahoo groups?

Specializes in still waiting to be hired.
