hi. does anyone here have tried applying in afp medical center for rn residency this is a six months training. i just want to ask if they have physical requirement to those aspiring applicant? what if you are wearing eyeglasses can you still apply? because as what i've read on the other post they prefer those who are not wearing eyeglasses.

thank you in advance to those who will reply.

The result is OUT! I called up the nursing after lunch today and i was told that the result is posted! Still haven't checked it out though.

1103alym: THANKS! I still have 2 more months to go and so far so good. I really learned and is still continuing to learn a lot of basic nursing skills (which I never encountered in nursing school) and my confidence level as a nurse really improved. I can do a lot of procedures on my own already (e.g. catheterization, IV insertion, suctioning, tracheostomy care, mixing of medications, NGT feeding, lavage, IM/ID/SQ injections, use of infusion pumps etc.) I am also very fortunate to have been assigned in an area where aside from working with the nicest staff, the patients are toxic! Hehe. Meaning I have the chance to learn a lot. Some of my co-residents complain that they rarely do procedures in their area of duty. Are you planning to train there as well? You should give it a try like I did. I never expected to qualify (since I don't know anyone) but I did. Good luck to all of us!

elocin06: our skills test was done after passing the exam, interview and finishing all of the lectures. I don't know if it will be the same for the coming batch. Don't worry too much about the skills test. The preceptors are nice and you can even ask help from them. If I can remember correctly, we did NGT feeding, IV insertion, catheterization, enemas and...that's all I can remember for now. I'll get back to you when I have recalled it already. GOOD LUCK!

hi there! may i just ask how many days in a week do you usually have your training days? and also how many hours per duty? do they provide some allowances? i am one of the lucky RNs who passed the qualifying exam. and if im not mistaken i think our training will start mid-August (that is if i will also pass the interview and other required exams) . thank you in advance for the info.

thanks for the information ilovetiggerdear.=D It helped me so much! =D

to ilovetiggerdear:

have you worked at the AFP hospital already? if yes, how's your experience working there? were you satisfied with the working environment? what's the salary range there, i.e. for a contractual worker/nurse I? what's the bed capacity per ward in that hospital?

Hi there! First of all congratulations to you! Anyway, we usually go on duty 5 days a week (M-F) but in most wards we can choose our off days. Meaning we can go on duty every weekends and have our offs during weekdays. Sorry to inform you this but we do not receive any form of compensation (except for the 25kilos of rice we got for free 2 weeks ago!). Not a single cent my dear. But I guess most if not all of the hospitals that provide training also do the same. We're lucky we don't have to pay for the training that's why a lot of RNs want to apply for this residency program.

Hi there! Nope. I've only been training there for almost 5 months already under the RN Residency Program. But some of our co-trainees were accepted as contractuals (those with backers only of course). I think they earn 12K+++ a month as a contractual. Bed capacity per ward I think differs. In one the wards I was assigned, we have a census of 30-38 patients and they have a 50 bed capacity there. By the way, I think V.Luna has a 1000++ total bed capacity. Re working environment, like what I have mentioned in my earlier posts, I was very lucky to have been assigned in an area with the nicest staff and where a lot of procedures are being done.

GOOD LUCK!
