aesthetic nurse practitioner-training

Specialties NP

Does anyone live in the Tampa area? I am a new NP and interested in aesthetics, I have no experience and have applied for several jobs and not been hired due to no experience. I am not sure how to enter the aesthetic world. Any advice would be grateful! I have found several training courses but not sure I should take them if I can't practice afterwards.

Can you clarify whether you have no nursing experience or no NP experience.

Specializes in ICU, LTACH, Internal Medicine.

1). Get FNP (important)

2). Get a job in an IM or FM office where you can start learning small things. Cutting off nevuses, pimple shots, freezings, etc. Many primary care providers do that in offices. You must have a good grip on IM in aestetics because your doc almost surely won't have it (derm physicians are notorious for their lack of knowledge about anything but derm) and you two might face, for example, one lady very unhappy with your treatment of her pimples which was unsuccessful because you guys missed her PCOS.

3). After at least a couple of years there, either switch to dermo office or do dermo residency for NPs. There are only few of such residency programs nationwide, so you might have to move for a while.

4). While there, start to look for market in aestetic nursing. You might need several additional certifications, so prepare to spend more time and money to do that.

5). After all that, you hopefully will be qualified for intro advanced nursing aesthetic job.

Good luck!

I would like to find this as well. I'm in Atlanta but could travel to Tampa to learn this. I know it's not difficult. A MA does my juvedern here in GA.
