  1. Ideal Image, nationwide company, based out of Tampa, FL. hires new grads. They specialiize in mostly laser, fillers, and coolscupting.
  2. I took both classes online with the same goal in mind. I'm presently in an FNP program. Look into Univ of Boston at Amherst for advanced patho and University of Colorado at Denver for advanced pharm. Most any school I applied to accepted the credits from these two schools. I believe I went through the continuing education department at U Mass. The classes were kind of pricey but well worth it in the end, not very difficult in my opinion. If you cannot locate the courses let me know.
  3. Is this statistics course offered online? If so, can you share what school offers it?
  4. In DC, you can expect to see 9-11 patient in the am and another 9-11 in the pm. Ask about how long is your orientation. Also, ask how long before you are expected to see patient's on your own. You may be expected to be independent within from day one or within 30 days of hire. Some FHQCs in DC will let you build up to the numbers I listed above over the course of a month. For instance, the first week your will see 2-3 patients per day, 2nd week 3-5 patients per day, 3rd week 5-7 patient per day, and then the 4th week 7-9 patients per day. If you need a little more time beyond this they will work with you. Be sure to ask how many patient's you will have on your panel (caseload to manage to be at full productivity). ex 700 to 900. How long are the patient visits? How many new patients will you be required to see per session? Will you be required to see walk-in patients or continuity patients? FQHCs also offer a productivity bonus so ask about that. As a new NP, it is very important to try to find out if there are any seasoned providers (NP, MD, PA) who you can consult with face-to-face throughout the day, in between patients, while working on the floor, if needed. I could go on and on, but I think this should be enough to get you started.
  5. Lol...Your right, thanks!!!
  6. USI has is very in-expensive and many people apply to the program. Therefore, there are several tracks: 2 year, 3 year, 4 year and 5 year tracks. I am in the 5 year track which means I can only take one class at a time. I will graduate in 4 years because I transferred in credits. I think I read that if you add up all the students enrolled in all 4 tracks there are a total of about 500 students in the program at any one time.
  7. I'm presently in the p/t FNP track at USI and I start clinical rotation in two months. I graduate next year July 2016. I would highly recommend this school to anyone. Attending USI is definitely one of the best decisions I have ever made. You will receive a quality education for a very inexpensive tuition. The faculty are all very supportive, still practicing, have years of teaching experience and importantly they want you to succeed. BTW, the program is not easy by far, but if your sacrifice you time to learn to material you will excel in this program. I posted about USI in the past. Please feel free to read my previous posts.
  8. Congrats New FNP!!!! Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts in this post.
  9. Congrats Mike!!! Its good to hear feedback from an FNP just starting out in the field. I graduate next year and I look forward to taking the boards and starting in my new profession. Please continue to provide feedback and share your experiences within the first year of employment. Based on my posts I have read nurses usually stop posting after passing the boards. I am very curious to find out how smoothly new FNPs make the transition into this role without having to read research articles (Lol). Continued success in all that you set out to accomplish!!!
  10. I am sorry you feel this way. However, I can understand. Really try to consider all your options. Given the long hours you put into almost completing the program and the cost of tuition, I would just complete the entire program. Therefore, if you later decide you want to practice at least it would be an option for you.
  11. Please ignore my previous post. I was able to find information on what the ANCC means by the term "retiring" of certification.
  12. As far as study plan I would look at the forums where students discussed what study materials they used to prepare for the Boards. Can someone tell me what is meant by the ANCC "retiring" its certification exam in 12/2015. I graduate from my FNP program in the summer of 2016. Does this mean that I will not be able to sit for the the FNP certification? Will the AANP be my only option? Thanks!
  13. Buying the older CDs will definitely help you with clinicals. You do not have to upgrade to the newer CDs later on. Guidelines do not change that often and even if they did change they do not appear on the test until a 1.5 to 2 years after they are published. You can google them on the internet and take some notes.
  14. I an a current NPAM member and FNP student in the DMV. The NPAM preceptor list is a good starting point just know that it is not the most accurate and it is really needs to be updated. FYI, I know of a few student members who did not have any luck with the preceptor list.
  15. Please share the name of the iphone app with the Leik questons.
