Moving to the Florida Forum where perhaps you can hone in on some locals that can help.

Good luck!

I have heard BCC is great. They are competitive so make sure your grades especially your A&P & chems are up there. Also I haven't heard anything about the other schools I would just double check to make sure they are accredited. Good luck in your studies

I actually went to BCC yesterday and the advisor checked my transcripts and she said i should have no problem getting in. That was great News! im so excited! cant wait to get the acceptance letter. thank you so much for the info.

I live and work in Broward. A LOT of the nurses I work with are BCC grads. I have only heard great things about them.

I am a former student of BCC, it is a good school as far as the information they teach to get you into the workforce, however I was not happy with the program due to I feel lack of support and various discrepancies with the teaching staff. BCC has a very high failure rate and the average student usually does not get thru the program without failing at least 1-2 classes. You can only re-take a failed class twice and after that you are out of the program. I suggest you talk to some students that you see on campus in the program especially upperclassmen who are in the 2nd year classes and see how they like it and what to expect. And if you do decide on going make sure you establish a buddy system and get with a group of people you can trust to form a study group with you, I've heard that's the best way to tackle the enormous amount of information you'll start to get at the school. There is a study tutorial on the computer systems in the computer lab they suggest all students to take the first week you start classes, it is excellent, it will prepare you for how to answer nursing exam questions which is very different from any other type of exams you have taken before. I don't want to scare you BCC is a great program, my sister works at Memorial West hospital and all the nurses their in the ER say BCC graudate nurses are the best new nurses from their experience, however I questions BCC's high failure rate and if you have a problem with a test question or a discrepancy about a teacher I from personal experience feel administration keeps their hands tied and basically teachers have the ultimate power with that program. Good luck to you and study hard.

Thank You So Much For The Information. I Have Also Heard Great Feedback On Bcc. I Have Already Applied To The Program For The August Term. I Am Really Excited And Scared. I Know Regardless Which School I Go To It Is Going To Be A Challenge, But I Am Ready To Take It! I Cant Wait To Find Out If I Got In. I Applied To The North Campus Because I Heard They Were Great At That Campus. What Campus Are You At?

Good luck with BCC.

They are very tough, and are not for the students at all. If you miss a day of clinical... then you get an incomplete. they do not help you at all.

They are known for failing students for the smallest things. If a teacher doesnt' like you.... well that is the end of your schooling there.

believe me. I lived it. I saw... and experienced... lots of tears shed from that school.

that is true!! word for word!!

I graduated a semester late because I missed one math question that was not written clearly. I redid the test, but unfortunately for me, because the teacher scheduled the test later... I could not make up a day missed.

Therefore, I had to sit at home on my ass for 4 months and graduated in august instead of May...

what a bummer.

If only they had let me make up that one day the following semester... would have been the normal thing to do for a good student like me.:o

Thanks for the comment. Im sorry you had to wait 4 months to graduate for that one test. I know its going to be hard. I've talked to several people and they told me the same. In reality that is my only option right now. I have a question, did you feel ready when you took your NCLEX?

After finishing the program, I did not feel ready for the NCLEX. So I took Kaplan.

Kaplan is the best way to go. I studied very hard for 3 months after graduating, and I passed the first time.

BCC does not give you NCLEX type questions at all. It is very focused testing. So they just test whatever is on the lecture books. we never got select all that apply, which patient would you see first, what do you think is most concerning of this pt, calculators on math questions...>--which that is what the nclex is.

during bcc, I studied my lecture books, and reviews and rationales (a supplementary study books that explained things to you in leymen's terms)

But I knew nothing when I got out of school. So Kaplan was the best. I did everything that came with the program and passed boards first time.
