Advice for 2014 UVA hopeful!!

U.S.A. Virginia

Hi everyone!

I was hoping I could get a little advice about UVA's CNL program. This looks like an excellent program and I will be applying for a May 2014 start date (deadline is Oct 1). I'm basically putting all my eggs in one basket with this one, but I have fallen in love with the school and the program! ;)

Here are my current stats:

- Graduating Magna Cum Laude from Liberty University (May 2013) with a BS in Healthcare Management. (3.7 GPA)

- I have volunteered at the local hospital both at the information desk and as a patient representative in the emergency department. The info desk was 1 day per week, and the ED was 1 day every other week--would have liked every week for that one, but demand was high for this position. My volunteer experience is not as extensive as I'd like, especially since I've had to take time off for my CNA class, but I plan on resuming it upon completion.

- I'm currently in the last week of a CNA program, where it seems very likely I will be nominated class valedictorian (I was surprised they even practiced that, but it is what it is I guess :)).

- I satisfy all pre-req requirements except for A&P 1&2, which I intend to complete over the summer.

- Once I pass state boards for my CNA licensure, I plan on getting a limbo job mostly for clinical experience while I work my regular job (mostly to save money for school since I have a husband and a young son as well).

I guess what I'd like to know is what anyone's experience has been like with UVA, what their stats were like, and what the interview is like (from what I understand, its just a short phone interview, but I'd like to know what typically gets asked, etc).

I'd appreciate any insight anyone has on the subject!!

HOO's excited about finding out in 9 days :]

6 days now! It's seriously killing me! I just wanna know! I'm curious about how many apps were turned in as well and how many they ended up interviewing!

From my understanding, they received around 130 apps and interviewed 80. I understand the feeling, I have felt so much anxiety this past week.

I know tomorrow is the day, but does anyone know what the method of notification will be? Phone-call? E-mail? Log-in to something? Letter only?

Last year I am pretty sure I just logged into the system where you put the application and there was a decision notice, however, it didn't pop up until midnight. When is the day? So whatever the day is it comes up at midnight

Apparently we are suppose to find out tomorrow (Dec. 21st) I just went on the application website and on mine it says "Decision Finalized" and then it says something like "posted by January 1st". But Mr. Hysell definitely sent out an email saying it would be posted the 21st. So I hope that really happens!

Did anyone get an email from UVA today? I got one about setting up an account for registering for classes and financial aid, etc. But then in the email it said that this email did not mean I was accepted into the school. Don't you think it is weird that they'd send it an email like that out before telling applicants whether they got into a program or not?

Kaityn: The email from UVa today was sent to all graduate applicants in all schools today. Every applicant regardless of School or whatever the academic decision will be has an account in the Student Information System. This is automatically set up after the application is loaded into the University's SIS.

The CNL admissions decisions are all finalized and loaded into the application system. The decisions should be viewable at 12:01am on December 21 (approximately 2.5 hours from now). As my earlier email stated, you will need to log into the application to see the decision letter. There will be a link at the bottom of the landing page (after you log in) that leads to the decision letter which will appear in a separate window (so please authorize pop-ups).

Huh. I did not get that email, but my email on my phone has been acting funny.

It does seem odd that you would get that email if you had not been accepted.

2 more hours I guess and the decisions will be up.
