Just put in the application this AM. Only other place I am applying is PVCC. I live in Cville and have a family, so these are my only options.

knoonan - there is no "campus" at UVA. We call it "grounds" around here. :)

I'm so excited for you all! As a current CNL student, I know exactly how you all feel. The wait was brutal. I remember being in your position last year. Can't wait to see all your new faces come next May!

Thank you!! I have had my app submitted for a couple weeks now and the waiting is already making me crazy! lol

You mentioned previously that there are a ton of parents in the program--I would love to hear some more about their experiences because we have a 4 year old son who enters kindergarten next fall.

So there is one mom who has 4 kids and the rest have two roughly, and we all do it. My advice is to utilize all the time you can while your at school devoted to doing school work. It took me until this month to realize how important the hour lunch breaks can be for minimizing school work at home to an extent. For example, after Patho Friday I plan to use my lunch break to go back over what she covers and make online notecards. I can eat lunch and work, that way when I get home I can focus on my family. We have classes on Thursdays and Fridays all day in the fall, which leaves open the rest of the week for clinicals and studying. I spend all those days studying or writing clinical logs. I just finished my psych rotation yesterday and I start Med-surg in a week. Time management is key. You have to find a balance with the demanding workload and your family. Be prepared to not see your child as much, and when that discourages you, remember the final outcome is YOU being a nurse.

Hello all!

I am throwing my hat into this thread because I recently submitted my UVA CNL application for the 2016 cohort. I had been aiming at this application for almost 18 months, so I'm gratified to have done all I could to present myself to the admissions committee. Now the waiting begins!

I had hoped to get down to the campus in advance of the application but family and work kept me local (I live in Clifton and work in Washington, DC). Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to do when I'm in Charlottesville (besides touring the facilities)?

When are you coming? There is tons to do here, wineries, breweries, apple orchards, downtown mall, etc.

Hello everyone,

I have also submitted my application to enter the Class of 2016 Cohort. I know that I probably shouldn't be expecting information on an interview so soon, but I anxiously check the UVA App page and my email every day. If anyone has any information on when we should hear about interviews, that would be great! Good luck to everyone!! :)

We have started the application reviews and are selecting some people for interviews. We will be conducting interviews from the week of October 14 until the week of December 16. Those being interviewed the following week will receive an email from me over the weekend to call in and schedule their interview the following Monday. We will conducting phone interviews for 6-12 applicants per week.

We will be selecting people for interviews well into mid-December, so do not worry if you are not contacted immediately. We are reviewing applications based on when they were completed and the first files being reviewed were completed in August and September.

All admissions decisions are anticipated to be announced on Saturday, December 21.

Good luck everyone. I can vividly remember this time in my life last year very anxiously awaiting the big interview. Let me know if I can answer any questions as a current CNL!! I'm a HUGE fan of UVA and the program!

I have been checking my application status compulsively, and my current status says "under committee review." Does this mean that they are currently actively looking into my application, or do all applications say that once they start the review process?

All applications that are forwarded to the committee will say that.

I don't know what mine says right now, but I do know that last week it finally updated to show that all my test scores and transcripts had been received. I was waiting on my final letter (that I asked for in August) before I could submit the app, so I was worried that one of my documents may have been lost and it would be too late to rectify it since the deadline had passed. All good now though.
