hi everyone. in a newbie here. so please welcome me. :D thanks.

anyways, i am a Filipina who just graduated this April from a Nursing school in the Philippines and came to Houston just this June after taking the local Nursing Licensure Exam. and i am wondering if there are kind hearted nurses (Filipinos, or not) in Houston who are nice enough to help me and give me information about the process of getting a license in Texas, or recommend someone who could help. it's still early there's still a lot of time, i know, but while waiting for the results of the June board exam, i want to find as much information as i can, so that it would be easier when time comes that i will apply for the state board.

You need to go to the Texas state board of nursing and meet requirements for foreign trained nurse. You will need CES from CGFNS or some other assessment before you will get eligibility to sit NCLEX. I presume you have a visa already allowing you to work in the US.

Yes, you do.

All states and territories in the USA require local license in order to process the application for licensure. There are some exceptions based on the individual but if the OP is a citizen of the Philippines and a graduate of Pinoy nursing schools then she will have to produce a local license from the Philippines as well as all the other good stuff that TX BON requires of non-US applicants.

I never said they did need a visa to sit the exam or apply however they are in the US I was trying to clarify that they wasn't hoping to AOS as they will not be able to

Perhaps if the original poster stated her circumstances like I am here with my new American Husband it would have been clear. Otherwise SilverDragon is correct, coming over on a tourist visa is a huge mistake.

Calling or even better, stopping at the BON since she is in the state would clear up any questions or concerns. Unless you are on a Board of Nursing or have a professional relationship with the Board ( Such as a Dean of an University) any information you get here is only an opinion or personal experience.

The poster didn't ask a question about a Visa it was about applying at a BON.

If she would of stated "Like I am here with my new American Husband" one still can not assume or guess what type of Visa she used to enter the USA.

Where did SilverDragon say coming over on tourist visa is a huge mistake, I don't see it in this post.:smokin:

In my second post I clarified that if they have come on tourist and plan to AOS then it will be a problem. Just being in the US and have only a 6 month tourist visa then problems may arise if the process takes longer especially if just starting it now. It helps to advise appropriately when given clear information.

Could you please post your nursing education or tell us where you got your legal training? Are you a staff member of a state Board of Nursing or have you been declared a new moderator and the rest of us missed the introduction?:bowingpur

I actually think it would be more appropriate for the moderators to review your comments. A lot of people are wondering why you are even posting on this forum.

You're not a nurse.

Not a nurse educator.

Not a nursing student.

For you to post in a nursing forum and have the audacity to demand that another poster's comment be deleted is just plain ludicrous!
