advice for a future 2nd degree nurse!

Published

Hello! this is my first post nice to meet yall! :nuke:

My goal is to work in a hospital in a military base located in Korea

I have a few questions for the most generous and experienced nurse here :D

1. Can anyone give me any pointers on the quickest way to get an RN license? I already have a bachelors degree in a totally unrelated field.

2. I know there are many options like the associates degree or 2nd degree programs...which one do you prefer?

I know I can take a courses to get my BSN while working with an associates degree...

btw whats the difference between accelerated BSN and 2nd degree nursing program?

3. Are there any online classes I can take?

thanks if anyone can give me some advice!

ooooooops!!!

Hey there!! Welcome!!

I'm not really sure how to answer your question because it really depends on the institutions near you, their degree requirements and what doors are open (or closed) by your previous degree.

For example, I have a BA in English Education, completely unrelated to nursing, but always wanted to go to nursing school. When I decided to go back I decided to go to my local community college because the program had a good reputation and would get me into the field more quickly. I had to retake biology & chemistry because when I was working on my BA I took biology & chemistry for the education major and they did not satisfy the requirement for nursing school (ahh...the decisions we make when we are 18 and don't know anything yet).

So, you may really need to do some research into the schools you are thinking of attending and ask some questions before you can make a decision.

I wish you the best of luck!! You will find that anytime anyone on allnurses can help - we will!! :D
