how many military spouses would have the profession of nursing? I wouldn't think alot. anyway did anyone get hired straight outta school for a job in a gov't/military hospital??

So I just talked to an Army Reserves recrutier and about to enlist in a program that will get me an LPN license (68WM6) I want to get hired at a US military hospital in Korea as an LPN so I found this from usajobs.gov http://jobview.usajobs.gov/getjob.aspx?JobID=78341206&sort=rv&vw=d&brd=3876&ss=0&FedEmp=N&FedPub=Y&q=korea&AVSDM=2009-05-16+12%3a32%3a00&rc=2&TabNum=3 but it says applicants must have 6 months of experience. I thought they would be desperate for nurses over there since its not really a desireable place to work for most Americans. Do you think they will accept me straight outta training? thanks and have a HAPPY 2010!!!!!

are you a nurse already? LPN or RN? I am neither and talked to a recruiter today and there is a program called 68WM6 which is available to only the reserves. its a 6 year commitment and the training takes about 1 year including basic combat training. (you will be paid while doing so) after you finish you will be eligible as an LPN. good luck! btw the reserves are planning not to take anymore recruits because they met their quota for the fiscal year so you better act fast!

omg thank you jarnaes! One last question if you can answer, I promise :) If I choose to get my LPN first and then enlist, what is my initial training going to be after BCT?? will it be 68W training which is only a few weeks or the whole 68WM6 which is almost a year? THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS YOU

well, the training would be in a US military hospital so I don't think it would matter where I do it as long as it's in a US hospital even if its overseas? GOSH its so damn hard to find a recruiter with extensive knowledge on the medical field. I wish there was someone to talk to. Are you still in the military? I still have so many more questions, I posted some on military.com but didn't get a response yet. THis is my plan, complete M6 -> become an LPN Join a reserves unit in Korea (my family is there) Take an online LPN->RN course online while in the reserves. ONE more question, when I take the LPN->RN online in Korea, will AMEDD do clinicals with me?

nobody??? I need to find a nurse recruiter

I heard that the military has training for medics which will give me an LVN/LPN license once completed. I talked to this guy at the recruitement center who completed his AIT and he said it was a nearly year long program. If the above is true, I want to serve as a reservist, while working as an LVN/LPN at a military hospital and work on my LVN/LPN to RN. Once I get my RN I want to go to grad school as a nurse practioner. Please HELP ME! I am having a really tough time getting information because the recruiter doesn't have good knowledge on medical programs the army offers.

hi all! I'm back at this forum after venturing off to try other things to no avail.......so its back to plan be to become a nurse! My goal is to work in a US military hospital in Korea as a CNS. I know I have to go to grad school to be a CNS but can I graduate from a school in Korea and be able to work? I know I can get a BSN in Korea and simply pass the NCLEX here in the US and be able to work as an RN but grad school??????? I have absolutely no idea care for some advice??

Hello! this is my first post nice to meet yall! :nuke: My goal is to work in a hospital in a military base located in Korea I have a few questions for the most generous and experienced nurse here 1. Can anyone give me any pointers on the quickest way to get an RN license? I already have a bachelors degree in a totally unrelated field. 2. I know there are many options like the associates degree or 2nd degree programs...which one do you prefer? I know I can take a courses to get my BSN while working with an associates degree... btw whats the difference between accelerated BSN and 2nd degree nursing program? 3. Are there any online classes I can take? thanks if anyone can give me some advice!
