Admissions Questions to university

Published

Hello, I'm a student planning to apply for the nursing program at WSU of Tri-Cities. But I'm nervous about the interview are there any questions someone could let me know they ask? Thank You.:heartbeat

Ill betcha they ask: Why do you want to be a nurse?

What attributes do you bring to the nursing profession?

What do you do to handle stress?

A question of some sorts about cultural competency.

Talk about an example of a time you successfully worked on a team.

Thanks all I can think of right now....good luck on your interview!!!

Peace,

What part of nursing are looking to get into?

Where do you see yourself in five years? In ten years?

You can probably expect some behavioral questions...these are questions that expect you to phrase your answer based not on what you think you would do, but what you HAVE done in a similar situation.

A few examples: Tell me about a time that you had to carry out rules or procedures when it was difficult or inconvenient for you to do so.

Tell me about a time when you had to work under pressure to get a job done.

Tell me about a time someone asked you to do something that you thought was unethical.

You can web search "behavioral interview questions" and probably find lots more examples.

Of course, its implied in these questions that you'll tell them not just the details of the situation you were in, but also how you handled it the situation and reached a satisfactory resolution (a lot of people who are nervous in interviews forget that part!). Here's a handy memory device for structuring your behavioral interview examples:

STAR

Situation (Work, school, internship, etc.)

Task (Immediate Problem at Hand)

Action (What you Did)

Result (The Result/Difference Made by What you Did)

I hope that helps...good luck with Wazzu!

Hi!

I see you've gotten great responses thus far, and I just thought I should warn you that when I talked to the WSU people, they said that they base a lot on the interview. I don't mean to scare you, I just think you should come well prepared! With that said, I wish you the best of luck!! :D
