I applied to Adelphi for fall 2010 I'm just waiting to take the TEAS, I'll take it about April when they post the new dates up. I'm currently at QCC, applying there also, not sure that I want to attend, if I get into both I think I'll choose Adelphi, if I get enough financial aid and scholarships because it will take me the same time to get my ASN as my BSN because I have all other classes and it would save me time from having to go back to get BSN. I'm going to apply to molloy as well just as a backup.
What about you guys?
Congrats to all who were accepted! I am an Adelphi alum, and let me tell you all, you will be in for the ride of your life! This program is hard, I'm not going to lie. BUT.. You will see when you graduate and start working with nurses from other programs how much more you know than they do. Still to this day, I remember learning things in nursing school that other people never even touched upon.No program is perfect but, you will not regret your decision to go to this program I promise.
Also, can I ask: how difficult it is to maintain above a 3.5 in Adelphi's nursing program?
I'm going to reply to both of you in the above posts. I know two people that went to NYU for nursing. One of them is now in a prestigious CRNA program and the other is a fairly new grad and working in a staff position. They are both excellent nurses. The only thing that I think is a negative about NYU is that I hear they are not very generous with thier financial aid, and living in NYC itself is so expensive. Adelphi is also expensive, but they will give you $ if you stay on the deans list plus whatever financial aid you are entitled to. I don't think it really matters where you go for undergrad when applying for a masters. Masters degree admission is much easier than undergrad with the exception of CRNA.
Is it hard to get a 3.5 in Adelphi's program? Well, its certainly not easy, but its all about how much effort you are going to put into your studies. If you put minimal effort in, you will not get a 3.5. If you study and really put the work into it, you can do well. Its hard, but I don't think the professors are unfair when it comes to grading.
Ok, just called an academic advisor at adelphi and this is what she said. Because I am currently in A&P2 and I am taking microbiology in the summer they need to see my grade for A&P2 to make sure it is above a C. You can't get more than 2 C's in the science pre-reqs for the nursing program. I feel much better knowing that's what it is so if anyone else is going through the same thing don't worry. Another month of waiting for me. My last final isn't until May26th.
Jay,
That happened to me too. I applied to Adelphi's program while I was finishing up my last prereqs including Micro. I think this is pretty standard. I believe I was admitted under the condition that I get a C+ or better in those classes. They do this because if they tell you 100% you are in and then you get an F in Micro, it doesn't meet their criteria for admission but you are in anyway. I'm certainly not saying that you are going to get anything less than an A , but I bet in the past once people got that letter they didn't try to keep grades up for the following semester.
Good luck on your final!!
Hey! from what I've read, I've noticed that the status of your application on Adelphi's website should say, "accepted" if they are granting you admissions...but I just went onto mine and that it it says is, "
Your application for 10 Fall has been completed and you will receive a letter with our decision shortly." Is that a bad sign???? I'm so freakin scared!!!!
Hey Jason, I've been reading up on the threads and thought you might be able to answer this question. These past few days, my application status read, "the admissions committee is currently reviewing yorua pplication" However; today, the status changed to, "Your application for 10 Fall has been completed and you will receive a letter with our decision shortly." From what I've read, if you're accepted, the status should read, "Accepted"...but mine tells me that I'll receive a letter shortly...does that mean it's bad news????
Fireflies,
I'm not really sure what that means. My status said my application was being reviewed and then it said they need my grades for spring 2010 so I won't know whether I'm accepted until the 2nd week of June. Try not to stress and just wait for the letter. May not be bad news at all.

Congrats!
Thank you for posting this! I have also applied to NYU and was considering going there because I want to look more marketable to schools when applying for my masters; but hearing that Adelphi has a program worth going to might convince me otherwise.
