Hey guys/gals I'm just wondering if their is anyone applying for this upcoming fy 2016 for direct commission into the navy. I guess I should have mentioned that I was referring to the nurse corps.
Pixie RN,I have a question regarding relocating (though I don't yet have an ODS date. I only just received a letter stating that I would be commissioning as a nurse 2900). My current lease does not have a military clause so if I move my family, it would cost me about $4000 in early termination fees. Can I leave them in Georgia and move just by myself for now? Also, if I do not have the govt move my stuff when I'm at ODS, can I do it subsequently?
Thank you.
If you are summoned to Active Duty, you are covered by the Servicemember's Civil Relief Act, military clause or not. It's Federal Law. Call your state Fair Housing office and let your landlord know he/she has no choice in the matter.
It's in the US Code, and that landlord knows it - and is hedging on you NOT knowing it. Once you get orders, they have no option.
Google "SCRA" and look for the website that ends in dmdc.osd.mil - that's set up by the US Government enumerating your rights under the Act. Your landlord is completely in the wrong.
That sort of stuff infuriates me.
Thanks carolinapooh. A friend from this fourm sent me info on SCRA and my landlord now says I'll be good to go as long as I show my orders.
I finally got my ODS date set for October 15th and I'll be going to San Diego afterwards. My detailer told me my orders will be released next week and I plan to commission ASAP.
Any ideas on how to navigate San Diego? I have a wife and three kids in tow. Never been there so trying to figure out how to make everything work. I started a new thread trying to solicit suggestions but nothing yet.
Vinstafa, any words of wisdom you can throw my way?
Thanks Vinstafa. My major area of concern is coordinating the move for my family.Totally clueless about housing, especially with the wait list for military housing. So it's starting to look like I may have to leave my family in Atlanta for a few months while I sort it out. It is my understanding that I can't even get on the waitlist until I get to ODS and sort out some paperwork stuff.
Anyone who has been accepted Direct Accession Active Duty Navy willing to share information as far as what a packet requires? I haven't yet reached out to a recruiter, but just getting an idea of what I will need to do once I decide to apply. References/Letters of Recommendation, etc?
And what did your application look like?
Years experience?
Specialty?
Certifications?
GPA?
Extracurricular/Other?
28 yo female
BSN 3.7 GPA
5 years RN experience, 2.5 years at Level 1 trauma center ER (very busy county hospital in large US city //trained and work in all areas - trauma/triage/etc)
CEN
ACLS, PALS, TNCC
Thanks all. And best of luck to everyone who has received commission!

So Bethesda has the largest number of ICU beds between the SICU and MICU, I want to say it's over 30.
