I am not an ER nurse, but I would say YES! And, if for some reason, some places do not require it, WHY?!!
ER and ICU are probably the two most likely places to need it regularly.
I am in the OR, and at my hospital, it is not required for the circulators to have ACLS, but I have it anyway. I like having the certification and training up to date, so I can be of most use when I am needed. Some ORs do require it.
Oh my, Yes ACLS is definitely required as an ER, RN. If you need help looking for a class I know American Red Cross and American Heart Associations all offer classes and they can you locate one closes to you. If your applying for hospital some times they will reimburse you for the price of the class because if can be a little pricey. Check with your HR department.
Hope this helps.

ARC does not do ALCS. It is an AHA thing only. You also need to call your local AHA chapter and get a list of the Community Training Centers that offer ACLS. The chapters do not offer the class themselves.
