What about it you don't understand? Your post doesn't give us enough info to know what kind of help your looking for exactly.

You do sound overwhelmed! Maybe you have too many study materials.

Gonna suggest one book...

"Fluids and Electrolytes Made Incredibly Easy" from Springhouse publishers. It's in it's fourth edition by now, I think, and it's the best. You can order from Amazon or it's probably in stock at your local Barnes & Noble. The first part of the book is all about fluid, electrolyte and acid-base balances. I used this book as an adjunct resource to my med-surg book, and it was incredibly helpful.

Good luck to you.

I agree with donster- it's a great book.

hello:

here are 2 threads on allnurses.com that may be of help.

https://allnurses.com/forums/f50/alkalosis-acidosis-question-335783.html

https://allnurses.com/forums/f50/electrolytes-acid-base-334861.html

also i am attaching a file that may help you also. hope it is helpful. once you get the basics down, it should come ok for you. the mneumonic "rome" is very helpful as well. all that and more is emphasized in the 2 threads above and the document i am attaching. i didn't know exactly what you were needing help with so i assumed it was general acid-base information.

since this thread started out in a different forum, did you check these links on these posts of this sticky thread in the nursing student assistance forum

I got the book...........THE BEST $40.00 I ever spent LOL!

It is still confusing and still scary but I atleast feel like I have some sort of power of this :)

Thank you sooooo much!!!:yeah:

I'm happy you like the book. And you're right... this material can be very overwhelming. The topic, though, is very important, and will be a crucial part of your practice as a nurse. The great thing about this book is that it breaks the subject down into easy to take bites, and puts them all together so that it makes sense. The little quizzes at the ends of the chapters are a good review source, too. Take the material a page at a time, and I think you'll do fine.

Continued success and much good luck to you!

I am so HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!

I got an 88 on the test! (Which to be honest upset me bc I like to get high 90's).......Is every nurse an anal retentive perfectionist? LOL )

I want to be the best at every course, absorb and learn everything.

I can not thank you all so much for being so willing to help all the time. The support is amazing!
