Life's little stressors during nursing school are killing me!
Hi ladies, Me too, Im in the full time day program while my daughter is in school and have two other jobs... Not one day off. Ever. It is a lot. But we have to remain positive. This will pay off for us in the end, we just have to keep the faith. I have never felt so overwhelmed in all my life. I envy (ok I admit I am soooo jealous lol) of the students that have entire weekends to devote to studying and assignments. I wish! But this is what someone told me and I am always telling myself this. "what is a nurse with a 95 average?" A nurse. "What is a nurse with a 75 average?" a nurse. LOL! Pace yourself and if you get overwhelmed.......step away from the books and watch a TLC show or something lol.

western suffolk boces??
OMG yes, I did my first fundamentals clinical in December. I promise it is not as hard as it seems, intimidating YES...... the first time, we actually had partners. So if we had five CNA's in our clinical group and five students who have never even spoken to a patient LOL, we were paired up with the CNA's. My level II clinics start in a couple weeks......I am scared to death so I am no help there LOL! But I will probably tell you it wasnt so bad also LOL!. If you want to get ahead of the game for level I, start reading some A&P books *that class is really accelerated and it will save you from nights of stress and tears* Its basically A&P I, II in 40 hours since A&P is only once a week for a couple months LOL! Hmmmmmm what else, read about fluid and electrolytes and acid base balance too.

Hey there! Congratulations. If the interview is anything like Eastern Suffolk Boces, it is basically Why do you want to become a nurse? What are the qualities in a good nurse? What would you do if you saw a classmate cheating? good luck :0)

First Care Plan/First Day on Clinical Help....Please
LOL. Ok well today was my first day in a LTC facility. My resident is a doll fortunately but I must say I am not prepared for the nursing notes, paperwork, care plans.... I have every book imaginable on NANDA's but I am having a hard time with all of this. My instructor wants it completed in the am.....thats if I do not get stuck in a foot of snow lol. OK so any help advice tips etc would be greatly appreciated. M.S. is alert and oriented. DX: Hypertension, Peripheral Nerve Damage, Unsteady Gait secondary to Peripheral Nerve Damage. She had cancer in her right breast so she has nerve damage in her right arm she also is S/P a carpal tunnel release September 2008. Walks with a rolling walker. Ambulates well. I dont know where to begin. I have spent the past 4 hours looking up all of her meds. Im overwhelmed. The peripheral nerve damage would I put that in the sensory and motor as well as the musculoskelatal section? I feel stupid.

am I the only one who feels this way
I feel EXACTLY the same way. The past two weeks, I have not wanted to go back to school since we changed into new BS groups. I sit in class all day, sleep when I never have before EVER, I learn nothing and I cry on the way home bc I feel my new instructor could care less if we passed or failed. I have never wanted something so bad in my entire life and I can not believe in a matter of two weeks, I have gone from feeling like I really can be an excellent LPN to an LPN drop out. Boces programs are horrible and if I knew then what I know now I would have went straight to the RN program. Hang in there and know that you are not alone. ((((HUGS)))))
