  1. Hi ladies, Me too, Im in the full time day program while my daughter is in school and have two other jobs... Not one day off. Ever. It is a lot. But we have to remain positive. This will pay off for us in the end, we just have to keep the faith. I have never felt so overwhelmed in all my life. I envy (ok I admit I am soooo jealous lol) of the students that have entire weekends to devote to studying and assignments. I wish! But this is what someone told me and I am always telling myself this. "what is a nurse with a 95 average?" A nurse. "What is a nurse with a 75 average?" a nurse. LOL! Pace yourself and if you get overwhelmed.......step away from the books and watch a TLC show or something lol.
  2. Thank you so much! These sites are awesome!!!!! I dont think I have gotten away from the computer in two days (with the exception of school and feeding my lil one LOL). Thanks again!
  3. Hi Everyone :) Well I got my first case study to do. It is a CHF patient w/ the obvious s/s Im doing well with the NANDA's interventions etc. My main issues are CXR: Pleural Effusion in RLL - Can I use this as an AEB in my Nanda or do I use my lung sounds as an AEB. Also having problems with labs anyone know of an informative lab site? i think thats it.. LOL......for now. lol Thank you so much for all the help I have recieved from everyone since September, I attribute all the help and motivation and amazing lecture notes and of course Daytonite's sticky notes lol to passing the first level. T~
  4. Oh yeah! I forgot about that LOL! Great advice! I had that summer assignment too...left it until the last minute... BIG MIStAKE!
  5. OMG yes, I did my first fundamentals clinical in December. I promise it is not as hard as it seems, intimidating YES...... the first time, we actually had partners. So if we had five CNA's in our clinical group and five students who have never even spoken to a patient LOL, we were paired up with the CNA's. My level II clinics start in a couple weeks......I am scared to death so I am no help there LOL! But I will probably tell you it wasnt so bad also LOL!. If you want to get ahead of the game for level I, start reading some A&P books *that class is really accelerated and it will save you from nights of stress and tears* Its basically A&P I, II in 40 hours since A&P is only once a week for a couple months LOL! Hmmmmmm what else, read about fluid and electrolytes and acid base balance too.
  6. LOL! It goes quick, it feels like yesterday I was interviewing and now I am heading into level II. Im sure you got in :) If you ever have any questions, feel free to ask and I will do my best to try and help.
  7. Hey there! Congratulations. If the interview is anything like Eastern Suffolk Boces, it is basically Why do you want to become a nurse? What are the qualities in a good nurse? What would you do if you saw a classmate cheating? good luck :0)
  8. Awesome thank you guys so much! Its so funny bc last year you would ask me what I wanted for Christmas I would say clothes etc......Now it is nursing books, nursing shoes, nursing everything. LOL
  9. LOL I know and let me tell you I do feel stupid lol. I filled in all the boxes (Im starting to enjoy this..... I feel like a detective lol)....except the main priority LOL! Altered Tissue Perfusion.....can I use this for Hypertension bc I am having a lot of trouble finding a NANDA for Hypertension.
  10. LOL. Ok well today was my first day in a LTC facility. My resident is a doll fortunately but I must say I am not prepared for the nursing notes, paperwork, care plans.... I have every book imaginable on NANDA's but I am having a hard time with all of this. My instructor wants it completed in the am.....thats if I do not get stuck in a foot of snow lol. OK so any help advice tips etc would be greatly appreciated. M.S. is alert and oriented. DX: Hypertension, Peripheral Nerve Damage, Unsteady Gait secondary to Peripheral Nerve Damage. She had cancer in her right breast so she has nerve damage in her right arm she also is S/P a carpal tunnel release September 2008. Walks with a rolling walker. Ambulates well. I dont know where to begin. I have spent the past 4 hours looking up all of her meds. Im overwhelmed. The peripheral nerve damage would I put that in the sensory and motor as well as the musculoskelatal section? I feel stupid.
  11. Hey Everyone! I wanted to add a PDA to my christmas list for meds, assessments, etc. Any recommendations? Thanks
  12. I feel EXACTLY the same way. The past two weeks, I have not wanted to go back to school since we changed into new BS groups. I sit in class all day, sleep when I never have before EVER, I learn nothing and I cry on the way home bc I feel my new instructor could care less if we passed or failed. I have never wanted something so bad in my entire life and I can not believe in a matter of two weeks, I have gone from feeling like I really can be an excellent LPN to an LPN drop out. Boces programs are horrible and if I knew then what I know now I would have went straight to the RN program. Hang in there and know that you are not alone. ((((HUGS)))))
  13. Im not sure if I thanked you bc I stink at posting on these site, I find I reply to posts in wrong areas etc lol. But thank you so much for this book suggestion; this book and all the other "Made Incredibly Easy" books have changed my world. Thank you again :)
  14. Thank you all so much. Got the cards. Got the drug book and got some new pens (I dunno its motivating lol). I have to tell you that nurses do not get enough credit for their knowledge, its incredible all of the information we need to learn and retain. Once again thank you all for your help :0)
  15. Hey everyone. Can I buy a flip book for my clinicals?? Any reccomendations??? Also any tips? Sad to say I do not know a thing about meds and I need to start learning them. Clinicals start in December but Pharm class is going by realllllly quickly and I am overwhelmed.. Um where was I going with this? LOL ok yeah drug classifications. The basics.. Antibiotics Pain meds etc. Thanks :)
  16. Hi Everyone! I really need some help with this. I am in a full time LPN program. Missed a day of Pharm I had a beautifully well timed cyst rupture last Thursday evening..... LOL! So I missed my notes on this and I have my very first pharm test on Needles.Syringes. Routes and I have no idea, I am so overwhelmed and confused. I have always found help here and I would have never passed one single A&P exam if it wasnt for this site so here it goes lol. I know SubQ, IM, and ID. I know the parts of a syringe. Nowwwwww where, how and which do you choose for what. Also IV piggy back???? UMMMMM not really sure whats going on there. LOL. Is there a website with pics of syringes maybe even a video. Im so overwhelmed. Test is this Friday morning. So if I pull two all nighters I think I can pass this..... we only have three exams so if I fail one test I am in big trouble. Thanks Tara Overwhelmed LPN student
  17. Hi Becky! Well it hasnt gotten any better huh in my group. We are lucky our school is staffed with Instructors! I havent had Lab in three weeks!!!!!!!! Im so frustrated I could scream.
  18. "You can also remember the acronym ROME. " OMG I loveeeee this. I have to say these little tricks have saved my butt during exams lol.
  19. I am so HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!! I got an 88 on the test! (Which to be honest upset me bc I like to get high 90's).......Is every nurse an anal retentive perfectionist? LOL ) I want to be the best at every course, absorb and learn everything. I can not thank you all so much for being so willing to help all the time. The support is amazing!
