Ive been accepted to Frontier. WHOOOO HOOOOO!!!!! Still in shock....happy, excited, scared. Will be going to Frontier Bound in Nov. Since I began looking at schools, I felt this was where I was suppose to go. Will be starting classes in Jan. I DID take phy assess thru Frontier this past summer and loved it. It was NOT easy...but the experience was a positive one....and I like the style of learning / teaching.
Any advice / pointers are greatly appreciated as I start this new adventure.

I did take my Physical Assessment class at Frontier. All of it was online. The class was around $2k books and all. I would think that by taking the class from them, it helps them become familiar with you. You also prove that you can survive an online class. Make sure you focus and come out with a perfect grade:) Proving you would be a good student and getting to know them was well worth taking the class from them.
My concern with that is dishing out 2k for a class other programs don't require, then not even getting accepted. Frontier is my ultimate choice for a program but I wonder if I should hold off on applying until I find out if I get accepted into these other program.
I am wondering the same thing. I have a ADN and a bachelors in education. I am interested in taking the class there, but wonder if it's worth it or not. I have a 3.05 in my B.S and a 3.0 with my ADN. I have less than 1 year of RN experience in med surg and corrections. I am wondering what to do to bolster my portfolio.

I was told that GPA is not their main determiner, and you will find folks on here complaining because they have a high gpa and didn't get in while others did. I also have several cohorts who had less than a full year of experience when they applied, although all had at least a year when they went to bound, so I wouldn't worry too much about the years of experience. I think the main determinants are your references and your essays. Of course, I've never been in the meetings where they decide on the applicants, so it's all hearsay from a current student...
If your thinking about taking a pre-req or two at Frontier vs at another school. I would suggest that taking stats or physical assessment at Frontier would be a good way to get to know the educational platform, it takes a while to get use to, and taking one or both of those courses during a term would help you ease into using it. Both courses are fairly easy to fit into your schedule. If Frontier is your first choice, I would suggest taking them, and using that time to work on your essay and references as well as networking with providers in your area. That way you will be way ahead of the game when you do get in.
Good Luck!
The best thing about Frontier besides the supportive faculty and formed cohorts is that this is the most intimate online program you will ever take. I felt more connected with this long distance program than I did with the graduate school I actually attended. It is the most unique experience you will embark on with the most flexibility to continue on to your DNP degree

I'm so jealous of all you guys!!! I want to go their sooooo badly. I need to do the Physical assessment class as well. Did you do it with Frontier? Was it all online for the class or did you need to go in to have your assessments evaluated? How much did they charge you for the assessment class? Congrats on getting in!!! I'm looking to go this fall :)
