Ive been accepted to Frontier. WHOOOO HOOOOO!!!!! Still in shock....happy, excited, scared. Will be going to Frontier Bound in Nov. Since I began looking at schools, I felt this was where I was suppose to go. Will be starting classes in Jan. I DID take phy assess thru Frontier this past summer and loved it. It was NOT easy...but the experience was a positive one....and I like the style of learning / teaching.

Any advice / pointers are greatly appreciated as I start this new adventure.

Congratulations, Tonie! I am a recent FNP graduate. It is a very tough program, but you will love it! If I can be of any support, know I'm here!

Hi Tonie- I am also in Class 95. We have a private Facebook page where me, along with about 10 other classmates are together getting thru the pre bridge stuff together. You should join us.

Frontier Class 95

Just ask to join and I will accept you!

Specializes in Peds, PICU, NICU, CICU, ICU, M/S, OHS....

I am on the fence about applying to Frontier. I work with a couple of people who go there and I have heard some good things, but I heard (just a couple) not so good things, too.

Can I ask when you applied and how long it took to hear back from them whether or not you were accepted? Just curious as what the turn around time is w/them.

Congrats on your accomplishment! Makes me realize that I SERIOUSLY need to buckle down and make a decision on what program (practitioner, informatics, forensics, etc...) and which school to apply to!

I just really want to be able to make a difference in the lives of children and I mean in a big way. I love working with kids, especially special needs children. Something so wonderful about them. But, it is so sad that so many are given up, not taken care of, or left to grow up in the hospital because their parents are unwilling or unable to care for them. I want to do something to change that, especially in urban areas. Ahh, what to do, what to do??

What GPA did you have to have to be accepted into their program?

CONGRATS TONIE!! I am FNP Class 82.

It's a tough program, but worth it. There's a reason why the school is one of the top grad schools in the US! :)

Frontier Bound is the most amazing experience. My advice, enjoy every second! Your life is about to change in wonderful ways!

What GPA did you have to have to be accepted into their program?

3.0 to be exempt from having to take GRE... but I am pretty sure they want you to have at least a 3.0 anyways.

You get notified of acceptance 6-8 weeks before the start of the term you apply for. You also may be placed on a wait list for the term you apply for, or be bumped to the next class if there is are too many qualified applicants to fit in one class.

Would love to hear more recent info about the program. Am considering applying for 2013. Can anyone expand on their experience? Thanks in advance!

I can rave about the school all day long, but do you have any specific questions? I'd be happy to answer them.

Thank you! How competitive is the admissions process for starters? And can a person conceivably work while attending? What do you love about the school? What is the program like in terms of format? Thanks again!

Well...I can't honestly give you admission statistics, but I'll bet the admissions office could, so you might want to give them a call about that.

I have worked full time until this most recent term. Now I work part time & am starting my last term of classes full time (when I was working full time, I did school part time, which means 2 classes per term. Full time is 3 classes per term). After this last term, I start clinicals for (hopefully) about 6 months. So...yes. You can work while doing this, but working full time as you move into the higher level courses is questionable.

What do I love about it? Hmmm....I love the connections you make at Frontier Bound. It really makes you feel like you're part of a class, not just going to school on a computer. The faculty is very supportive. I believe the quality of education I'm getting at Frontier is better than I'd be getting somewhere else. I just love the school and plan to someday receive my Doctorate from Frontier. No need for me to look anywhere else.

Some classes have scheduled chats/lectures, others have powerpoints or chats/lectures that are recorded and can be attended when it works for you.

Hope this helps a little :)
