accepted Emory students fall 2009

Published

I have just been accepted to the Emory BSN nursing program for fall 2009 and I just wanted to know if other accepted students would like us to communicate and help each other prepare for the fall. We can discuss anything from immunization, PDA, housing to financial aid.

I would also like current student and alumni to mentor us in order to make our preparation smoother. Any advice is welcome since you've been there before from what type of stethoscope to which brand of PDA to buy.

I am a very meticulous person and would like every thing to go perfectly that is why I need all the advice that I can get so that come August, we would all be ready and prepared for the challenging two years ahead of us.

Thanks to all who will join the group and to all who will advise us.

Really appreciated.

You are right because mine starts with M. OK, no hope lost yet. :)

My last name starts with H and I haven't gotten anything on OPUS yet. This process is draining! I can't remember if we're supposed to hear from Financial aid, regardless of whether or not we receive any aid, or if we wouldn't get a letter if we didn't get anything from the school of Nursing. Anyone remember what they said on the visit day?

I remember Katie saying something like that but then again she also said 95% of people get aid so hang in there L-Zs, we should be hearing something soon!

I just got my letter from Katie!!! I am getting 3 $3000 scholarships! This is exciting because we (my husband and I) have saved up a good chunk of change to help pay for Emory too! I was so nervous that I would get nothing, but I got something.

This should be very hopeful for others because I am a 2nd degree seeker with a lot of loan debt. I sure hope to hear from others of you.

Congratulations Erin!!! I received my as well. All of the worrying is finally over!

Congrats! I still haven't heard or received anything! Still impatiently waiting!

Hey Everyone,

It is so stressful to wait and find out about financial aid! I hope that it works out well for everyone and I will get to meet you all in the Fall! I just started a private google group (a place where we can chat, meet each other, talk about housing/logistics of starting nursing school at Emory!) and I hope that some of you, along with the rest of our entering class, would like to join. If anyone is interested in joining, PM me and I can add you to the group! :D

Cheers,

Abby

I too got my letter, I was not too impressed, but I'll take what they have given me, still working on getting aid elsewhere also. Does anyone know if you can get more in student loans than they have given you?

BTW how to you PM someone? I would like to join that chat on google

Hey Trish!

What you saw in the letter is only what the school of nursing has awarded you, it does not include the federal aid.

So the letters you all have received is just the school of nursing awards? Is it showing in your OPUS? Have any of the L thru Zs received their financial aid package via OPUS?

I can't say that I'm impressed with my package either, but I'm sure as heck grateful for what they did give me. I'm still gonna need to take out a LARGE private loan, but I guess I'm okay with that, because I went ahead and paid my tuition deposit. In reference to your last question, I believe your parents can take out a PLUS loan for you or you can take out a private loan through a bank or something. Other than that, I don't know another way to get more in loans. Maybe you should call financial aid tomorrow and see what advice they give you. Hopefully things will be different next year.
