I have just been accepted to the Emory BSN nursing program for fall 2009 and I just wanted to know if other accepted students would like us to communicate and help each other prepare for the fall. We can discuss anything from immunization, PDA, housing to financial aid.
I would also like current student and alumni to mentor us in order to make our preparation smoother. Any advice is welcome since you've been there before from what type of stethoscope to which brand of PDA to buy.
I am a very meticulous person and would like every thing to go perfectly that is why I need all the advice that I can get so that come August, we would all be ready and prepared for the challenging two years ahead of us.
Thanks to all who will join the group and to all who will advise us.
Really appreciated.
So the letters you all have received is just the school of nursing awards? Is it showing in your OPUS? Have any of the L thru Zs received their financial aid package via OPUS?
Yeah.....the letter that I received was only the school of nursing awards. All of my other federal aid and everything else shows up on OPUS including what the school awarded me.....if this makes any sense.
I never got anything in writing, just what was posted to my OPUS account...weird. Anyway I'm okay with private loans because my undergrad school was relatively cheap, so I'm not in much debt from undergrad. If only I knew I wanted to be a nurse when I started college, and not once I was about to graduate!

Amen! I wish I would have figured it out about 5 years and $25,000 ago. Oh, well. I also never thought I would have this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to attend a nursing school like Emory. I am a midwesterner who never thought I would be here. It took a long time to feel like moving halfway across the country, away from family, friends, and security, was worth it. Going to Emory is worth it. I will go back to Kansas later.

I never thought I would have this opportunity either. Emory??!! WOW! lol I'm with you, though. I can go back to Louisiana later (well if I don't fall in love with Atlanta!).

I am an L thru Z and I have not received anything through OPUS. I knew I would have take out some private loans. I am thrilled with what I did get from the nursing school.
Here is the list of Emory's preferred private loan providers:
