U.S.A. New York

Hello everyone,

Has anyone been accepted to Cochran Nursing School? I'll be in the evening program, then I'll apply for the accerated part of it in the summer. I'm coming from queens to go to Yonkers. Whewww! I got in just in time because next year they won't do the roll in basis. They will select who has the highest GPA. Has anyone heard of the program?

Yes, there is no LPN program, but they have a accelerated LPN to RN program. I'm not a LPN, but I wish I was. But I'm shooting for the Accelerated program RN program.

The 1st two semesters are the same is everyone else. But in the following summer they make two nursing courses into 8 wks block. Then on the 3rd Semester its normal and its your last one.

LPN have it better because there is nursing course they don't have to do.

there is no lpn program, but they accept lpns into the program.

Hello,

New student at cochran, do not worry about the math test, it is only dose calculation and if you need help, I wil be in school and I can help you. About the programm, this programm is very tough and it required %78 in each exam. But if you start your work in early, it will be ok.

Good luck every body.

Thanks Alik, this 78% is what worries me most I passed up another school that had a 75% so I am hoping that it doesn't come back to haunt me. :) I'll just have to study extra hard.

I'm curious, is this 78% and average of all your test in the same course. Or do they calculated a different way?

All it means is that you must make sure you are at the top of your game! ;) ..even though my school only requires a minimum of 2.5 to program to progress to the nursing sequence, I'm still going to aim for A for each pre req course...esp since I want to get an internship at a hospital after my first year of nursing classes...

Forgive me but I don't understand. You mention after your 1st year in the nursing program you wanted to enter a intership in a hospital. What is a intership?

Many hospitals in the area offer preceptorship especially during the summer months. Where you are oriented and are allowed to work in the hospital setting it allows you to gain valuable clinical experience and the pay is between $15-18 bucks an hour.

If thats the case, I'm in. I think I'm going to ask Cochran are they affiliated with any Hospital where that applies to them. Wow, thats a beautiful arrangement.

Congratulations!...wish you all the best. Last year Cochran gave me the run around, I'm glad you did not encounter what I went through.

I too have good news to share...I got accepted in the nursing program at my school(Bx Community College).

Cool!! I am very happy you got accepted and the school is a lot cheaper too so you will be saving your money.
