Accepted into CCC Nursing Program: Truman College

U.S.A. Illinois

Published

Hi all! I've started this thread for those of us who have gotten the good news and have been accepted to start the nursing program at Truman College in Fall 2012!

If you are still waiting to hear, I would suggest visiting the other thread I started for some helpful information, tips, and support!

Here's what I know so far:

  • There WILL be clinicals in the first semester (6 hours)
  • The classes will be scheduled via a lottery system
  • We should be receiving a letter from Dr. Gurney in the near future that details what our next steps should be!

Please add to this thread if you have any more information or just want to say hi!

I'm looking forward to getting to know you guys and having classes together shortly!

Thanks people for posting that it's easy to sort out the uniform stuff at the store -- I was scrambling to try to be able to make it to Truman tomorrow but now I won't bother!

I was someone on the list for switching times and they emailed me about that on July 3, so I'm guessing they are behind and haven't gotten to the booklist yet?

hah who knows!

It was sent to us in error. If you log on to the Certified background check website & check your messages, it will tell you.

For those who bought the uniform already, is ours navy or royal color?

Lungu2007, not sure if you are a male or female but do you know if females have to buy the female style uniform? I'm pregnant now and will be having my baby in a few weeks and am worried about a more fitted uniform. I, of course, will buy what is required but....

Also, did you have to buy the shoes from them?

Well, I don't know if we can buy male scrubs or not. I did not ask, but the scrubs for females are actually pretty comfy.

You don't need to buy the shoes from this store. As long as you have a pair of white shoes, you should be fine. At least that is what the lady from the store told me. I did buy the shoes, but only because they were comfortable and cheap enough, and I don't own any comfy white shoes. It is really important to feel comfortable :) In clinicals you are standing all the time so... comfy shoes are esential lol. You should ask when you go to the store re: male uniform, but i think that our uniform is comfy enaugh :)

Navy for RNs; royal is only for LPN students. We need Navy. Are you going to school tomorrow or at the store? They know exactly what you need at the store. They check the item number

I actually just got to the store in Elston right before they close. The only thing they had in stock was the lab coat. They had to order my scrubs because they didn't have navy in my size. Thanks for the help! I only ordered the scrubs, lab coat, and the patches because they said it was required. Did you get anything else?

I got the lab coat, the scrubs and shoes. You need a stethoscope for sure. And that's it for now. I was told at the store that we don't need The pen light and the other stuff from our list. We should wait until school starts and ask our instructor.

The only thing they had in stock was my pants in navy lol... and my shoes :D . The lady said that is takes max 2 weeks for the rest of the stuff to arrive at the store.

Did you get the email about the books yet???

Thanks for the reply lungu2007. I have all white shoes already that I am planning to use. As for the stethoscope, I also have one laying around the house. Yeah, I was told this is all we needed as well. I did not get the email about the books yet.

Hello all! I still haven't gotten an email regarding a swap from evenings to mornings. If anyone else in the program is still looking to swap & you need an evening schedule, pls email me @ [email protected].

FYI, Just ordered at Truman and was told females had to have female tops, not unisex.

Unfortunately, I was out of the state last week and I was unable to go to the Truman and order the uniform for clinicals. Can you tell me please what exactly do we need? I will probably go on Thuesday to the Elston location and order everything from there.I will be grateful for any response. Thank you all....
